So my dear mother is still running her 1.25 Ghz PPC PowerBook. We still have "The Classic" in the basement sitting next to the 6100 with a DOS card. A clam shell iBook, my 633 slot load iMac, and I think a 700 or so G4 tower, still a self proclaimed noob with x86 (the A+ doesn't help me here).... I only have a 10.7 install DVD all other working machines run 10.5....

Here I sit looking at an MSI Z77A-G45 with an Intel i5-3570k sitting at the center (my first build). More SATA ports than I could ever imagine my mother using. 8 pathetic GB of DDR3 1600 RAM trying to balance one side of the board and I have yet to get a working x86 build to do anything but hang on installer load. Win disc works without issue. Flashed the BIOS using another thread I found. (let me know if you would like me to find it again) Any suggestions from someone else with this setup? I've seen a few of you out there... not sure if its my method of making the install or my USB flash drive. DVDs seem to work better as if USB boot on this board won't see the non-Win boot files.

Or should I return the MSI and go buy the GB MB suggested? >>

10.7 dvd?
more info needed

Typo, 10.6...

10.6 disc wont work with ivy bridge (unless you use iboot legacy, but app store wont work due to unknown cpu).

your best option is to use another mac or hack to download mtn lion from the app store and make a unibeast stick.

SL does not support Ivy Bridge processors.;)

I have access to another mac. You are saying I will need to start with the 10.7 download from the app store?

Yes, or you can start straight with Mountain Lion.
