Hey everyone,
I don't have an org.chameleon.boot.plist file on my hackintosh. It is not in /extras. I'm not sure how I missed it in installation, but everything works fine-- my machine boots, doesn't freeze, so i'm not sure where I missed out. I'm trying to get my screen resolutions to work better on boot, maybe install a new theme, do quiet boot... but-- i'm stuck right now. No file. Any help?

Thanks!!

Have you installed MultiBeast?

yes, multibeast was my post-installer. I installed chimera with it.

If you High Light either userDSDT/DSDT Free or EasyBeast from MultiBeast then that tells you that it will install an org.chameleon.boot.plist in the extra folder. My advice would be to re-run MultiBeast and then see if it installs.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the 640 a card that requires GraphicsEnabler=No

I ended up just using the Chameleon Wizard, and having it save a new chameleon file... and it seems to be working. I don't have graphics enabler checked, so i assume that means it's no...and it's working fine.

Can you change the resolution now. You will be able to see if its yes or no in the file you just applied.

The resolution of the image itself is now fine after the change, but I have a black box around the outside of the screen on login. Seems like this is fairly common although I can't seem to find a fix via google yet.

Chameleon wizard?

I am using Chimera. And I am unable to use either EasyBeast or UserDSDT for now. I don't want to risk my system by doing that now. And installing Chimera alone or via MultiBeast did not create /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist

Is there any site or a FAQ with description of how the file should look like? I once saw it and even edited it, but that system is now long gone.

Go to your motherboard manufacturer website and find out what you need from MultiBeast, i.e what audio codec, ethernet. Also your graphics card will need the boot flag, GraphicsEnabler=No. Alternatively google your motherboard and graphics and look for completed builds with MultiBeast screen shots. Only install what you need and never guess.

Once you select User DSDT or DSDT Free installation it will automatically install the Boot Loader(Chimera) for you. It will also create an extra folder containing the org.boot.chameleon.plist, smbios.plist which will show your system as Mac Pro 3,1. You can change this later if you prefer but you will have more compatibility with this system definition. It will add others as well to enable iMessage.

Hope this helps.

1. Trying to set the boot flag simply caused MultiBeast to fail installation. Even after Chimera was installed.

2. There are no completed builds with P8C WS. I don't know of any, and have never seen anyone mention any.

3. I have Chimera installed. Twice. Once from MultiBeast, once from its own installer. But no org.chameleon.Boot.plist appeared anywhere.

4. Ethernet is ok. Audio can wait until I get these others fixed. And, I must decide between DSDT or not DSDT before installing audio drivers.

Thanks for trying, anyway.

I think it would be best if someone simply put his Boot.plist here for all to see. I know how to edit it from there. But I have no idea how to get one to start with.
