OS X 10.8.2 Update

Good old BadAxe2 updated to 10.8.2 without any problem :)

Updated to 10.8.2, restarted and got the error:

'mbinit: done [96 MB total poolsize, (64/32) split]
Pthread support ABORTS when sync kernel primitives misused'

Solved it by just booting with safe boot by -v -x and restarting it once with normal -v (verbose) only
Sound was lost though, so installed AppleHDA using Kext Utility.

Update successful through AppStore.

Lost sound tho, but MultiBeast fixed the issue in seconds. Up and running . . .

Article: OS X 10.8.2 Update

Hi,

I updates to 10.8.2 via combo updater, but couldn't boot past the gray startup screen, because of OemSMBIOS.kext. After replacing AppleACPIPlatform.kext with the old one from a previous post in this thread, my system booted without any problems.

Now, as I really don't like having legacy kexts on my system, I tried out various methods to allow me to keep the vanilla 10.8.2 AppleACPIPlatform.kext. The solution was quite easy and had a great benefit to it. I installed Kozleks branch of FakeSMC + optional Kexts for sensors: https://github.com/kozlek/HWSensors

Not only can I now boot with the original 10.8.2 AppleACPIPlatform.kext, without having OemSMBIOS.kext throwing an error, but I also get much more information from my hardware sensors opposed to the original FlakeSMC-Plugins from Multibeast. Furthermore a serial number is generated for my machine (so no problems with iCloud and Appstore) and VT-d can stay enabled in BIOS! This kexts should find their way into the next Multibeast update.

Using the kexts from Kozlek was a win-win for me :) Please only try at your own risk and backup your system before trying this. This worked great for me, but could kill your installation.

I had a fresh install of 10.8.2 on a z68x-ud3h-b3 (F12bios) with sleep and everything working fine using the MB Slice fakesmc's. I tried Kozleks FakeSMCs becuase SLice's fakeSMC wouldnt show my CPU voltage. Kozleks shows my CPU voltage and alot of other stats which is great, but now sleep is broken. Anyone know how to fix this? or know what part of the slice fakesmc made sleep work or what part of kozleks fake SMC broke sleep?

Updated through App Store and immediately rebooted. Big mistake. System will not boot past the Apple logo and spinner. I cannot boot at all using any or combination of flags (-v -x -f etc.)

I can boot the USB stick with the ML installer (by booting from a USB 3.0 port then moving it to a USB 2.0 port and pressing F5 otherwise it doesn't work) Using this method I overwrite the ACPI kext with the one mentioned in this thread. Still no joy.

Using -v the systems hangs at

ITEIT87x: found ITE IT8728F

I have no idea what to do next. Can anyone help?

Updated using built in software update. After update I ran multibeast to reinstall ALC898 driver to regain audio.

System:

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
Intel Core i5 3570k
Intel HD4000
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
TP-Link Wifi Adapter (TL-WDN4800)

sorry to bother you, but i've got the same mother board and even after running multi beast i didn't regain audio. Did you did anything else? any advice ?
i'd really apreciate it

I got kernel panic after upgraded on my dell precision m4500 laptop from 10.8.1 (kp1.jpg).

I renamed AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext in /System/Library/Extensions (kp2.jpg). Now my keyboard doesn't work and I cannot test anymore until I get a USB keyboard.

Could anyone help me to workround the AppleRTC issue.

It looks if I disable VT-D in bios then all works. Thanks here.

I've seen a lot of people saying if they can't boot they can boot with -x and/or GraphicsEnabler=No

What happens if you can't boot? How can you get the system up and running to do recovery?

I've tried looking through the forums but it seems nobody has the same problem as me. I'm totally lost as to how to get this up and running.

My system just stops. It doesn't seem to be crashed as plugging USB devices in prints logs to the console. I'd just bought Mountain Lion and got it all running nicely when this update killed my machine :(

EDIT: There is no VT-D option in my BIOS. There is a virtualisation option which I have disabled to no effect.

I finally got this to boot with DSDT=No
Then I downloaded Multibeast for ML and ran it, rebooted and all is working. Hope this helps someone else.
