If I know right, "bezel" is the thing that shows the volume indicator when you changing the volume, and the same with brightness. (that transparent black square)

I have this exact same issue. Did you ever solve it?

Brad, I have the same problem. I am using 10.7.2 with Intel GMAX3100 GPU and I see this message from Google Chrome.

2/5/13 12:09:48.873 PM [0x0-0x7007].com.google.Chrome: [521:-1331654656:0205/120948:ERROR:gpu_watchdog_thread.cc(201)] The GPU process hung. Terminating after 10000 ms.

I have stopped using Google Chrome and disabled Google Update Daemon. So far the problem has not returned.

Can you go to Applications > Utilities > Console > All Messages and look for ERRORs around the time it froze and post them to this thread?

I am getting these errors around the time it freezes.

5/17/13 9:23:28.741 AM mdwrite[360]: [ERROR] [0.000s] com.apple. UBItemStatusNotification.c:805 _do_UBItemStatusNotificationRegisterURLs() can't find realpath for "/Users/ericambrose/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~system~spotlight/mdlabels", was blocked at "/Users/ericambrose/Library/Mobile Documents": 2 (No such file or directory)

And

I have no idea what this means. Can you guys help?

Did any of you ever solve this? I have the same exact issue.

It seems to happen most (maybe always) when playing a flash video.

In system log I get this error:

[0x0-0x25025].com.google.Chrome[253]: [278:15111:0328/010722:ERROR:gpu_watchdog_thread.cc(253)] The GPU process hung. Terminating after 10000 ms.

also I get a bunch of "deny file-write" errors:
[293]): DumpGPURestart(293) deny file-write-create /Library/Application Support/SubmitDiagInfo

At the same time in kernel log I get a bunch of these errors:
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error

and the occassional:
NVDA(OpenGL): Channel timeout!

When my computer "freezes" and I'm watching a video, the sound will continue to play as if nothings wrong, but the mouse and keyboard are frozen. After a while, the screen will shut off, and I can use the mouse or keyboard to get the screen to come back on, but the mouse and keyboard are still frozen! Very strange.

Other symptoms I see are occasional white "flickering" of the screen. This seems to be the GPU "restarting".

I have a Mac Pro 3,1 SMBIOS. OSX 10.7.3
E7200 Core 2 Duo CPU
ASROCK P43Twins1600 motherboard
Nvidia 9800 GTX Video Card
