Article: OS X 10.8.2 Update

After update I've got boot error, grey indicator has spinning forever. After that I've boot in verbose mode and I've saw that loading stopped on line with message about intel vt-d, then I just disabled intel vt-d in bios and system has booted without any error.
my config: Core i7 3770k & gigabyte z77-ds3h
Big thanks !!!!!

Thanks !

I have the Spinning circle on Grey Apple screen. I can boot with -x. Some says we have to delete OemSMBIOS.kext, but I don't know where to find it ?

Boot with -x
Go to System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext, click on it and select "Show Package Contents"...once you do that there is a folder inside called "Contents", open that up and there is another folder called "PlugIns". It is inside there. Delete OemSMBIOS.kext and restart.

Worked awesome for me.

Hope that helps.

Hi, first post from me, but I managed to make it work.

1. Install update - even if it says update install failed - don't reboot.
2. In terminal type "sudo mv /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/OemSMBIOS.kext /Users/youraccountname/" (replacing youraccountname with the appropriate account name)
3.Still in Terminal, type "sudo diskutil repairpermissions /" followed by "sudo kextcache -system-caches" (or repair permissions and update kext caches in any other way you prefer)
4. Run Multibeast to reinstall audio - no DST
5. Reboot.

Works for me. Tried other solution but every time fif get KP
System Z68XP-UD4-F5
i7-2700K
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1024 MB

after restoring IOAHCIFamily.kext from stock mountain lion there aren't no more problems with kernel caches. Thanks macman

Front page says there's 30+ comments here; I'm only able to see 8. Anyone else unable to see them?

Are you running Chrome? Here, and a few other places, the displayed amount of comments will stick. Extremely annoying.

On a audio related note, my audio, realtek ALC889, simply would not work. I must have rebooted at least a dozen time and trying different solutions. Luckily, I run a daily clone just for such situations and I pulled both kexts from my cloned drive and everything works again.

I updated to 10.8.2 on my Sabertooth X79 i7 3930k system. After the reboot the screen was getting stuck on the grey Apple load screen. Rebooting in Verbose mode revealed that it was getting stuck at the aforementioned
OemSmbios.kext, so I rebooted with -x and deleted that kext:
Kext located within /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/
So boot with -x -s, remove this kext

Everything seems to work fine now which is nice. I don't use the built-in audio so I'm not sure if it's affected or not.

Motherbord H77-DS3H

1. Update to 10.8.2 Combo
2. Run Multibest
2.1 Drivers - Miscellaneous - FakeSMC plugins - Motherbord Plaugins
3. blagodarnyy - September 19th, 2012, 07:55 PM
For those of you, who has KP related to OemSmbios.kext, here's a little workaround:
Kext located within /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/
So boot with -x -s, remove this kext
Works fine so far
4. Off virtualization in bios
5. Good restart
6 no good restart ? Run multibeast
6.1 Customization - system definition - imac - imac 12.2

Works fine for me using the Combo Updater (so far)! The only thing I had to do was re-install the audio driver using Multibeast. I'm on a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5TH and Core i7 3770.

White apple screen with infinite spinning whel. I deleted
OemSmbios.kext but the same. Set in bios first graphics onboard not PCIe and 512 Mb (was 1024) and running fine.

Need help. Did update, and can only boot via safe mode (-x) or GraphicsEnabler=no.

I have a Gigabyte
GA-B75M-D3P with and Intel Core i5-3570K using the embedded graphics. I get to a screen that's half black on the bottom and several repetitions of the login screen on the upper half, with a static shake to to it.

Have reinstalled every driver through MultiBeast to no avail.
:banghead:

You may have overwritten these parameters in your chameleon settings when running Multibeast. You'll either have to edit your chameleon .plist or see if Multibeast has the options to do it for you.
