Strange YouTube Issue With Gigabyte Z77X-UP5TH's Onboard NIC

I have this problem too. I guess there is no workaround yet? :(

My humble understanding is that there is an issue with hnak's driver used for the Intel NIC, notably the one found on the GA-Z77-xxx motherboards.
We should try to advertise the issue on other relevant threads and forums, short of talking directly with hnak.

I think this is a very significant issue, but I am afraid it may go unnoticed for a long time (well, maybe I am writing this here while this is actively being discussed (solved?) somewhere)

I have had this issue (youTube endlessly loading html5) for quite a while, but I didn't know it was supposed to work, I thought it was a general Mac OS issue that also affected regular Macs. So I was not even trying to troubleshoot the problem.

Many users who do have Flash will not see the problem on YouTube and never worry about it, or understand the problem (easy to dismiss it to a Safari issue). It certainly affects other areas, such as Skype apparently, but here again, it is easy to dismiss it as a shortfall of bandwidth from your ISP for instance.

Personally, I've had frustrating issues with Remote Screen sharing via iChat/Messages that rarely succeed connecting and I am starting to suspect this, although it does also happen when not using that driver, just less frequently. So far, my reaction was "I checked my bandwidth (Down & Up) and it is great, so the issue MUST BE on the other end with their second-rate ISP".
Now that I am becoming aware that large amounts of dropped packets can occur on my side even on a good connection, I need to revise my thinking.

So what's important is to document the issue the best we can and spread the word until soemone who can do something does... I hope Tony and MacMan take notice since I guess they can either fix it ot better spread the word.

Or if I am wrong in thinking the problem is in the driver, I'd like to know...

I am using the UP5TH with only the onboard NIC and have not seen this problem. If I open Youtube in Chrome everything is instantaneous, as it is in Safari or Firefox. Do you all have the same GPU? Perhaps different Flash execution environments are leveraging a different method for hardware acceleration and that is causing issues.

Interestingly, Youtube loads fine if I use VPN - blazingly fast, intact. What's going on here? :?:

I guess we are not talking about the same thing, I DO NOT have Flash installed at all (because I want this Hack to be Flash-free), so in my case, there is no question of what Flash environment... When Flash is not available, YouTube fetches an html5 video and Flash is not involved, and that's when it doesn't work.

People who say "YouTube works [or doesn't work] for me" must specify whether they have Flash installed, otherwise we can't compare results.

Flash version of Youtube only 'kind of' worked for me. I mean, I can watch the video, but it's still slow as heck, and the video previews on the right are black. HTML5 videos, on the other hand, won't play videos at all.

Now, I just can't be bothered to fix it anymore. I bought the Apple Thunderbolt to gigabit adaptor, and it works OOB. YouTube is now fast both HTML5 and Flash - all the video previews shows up almost instantly.

Still, I wish someone can make the onboard NIC to work.

Same problem here :(

Youtube load very slow on cable connection and fast whit a cheap usb wireless adapter.

i tried to downgrade the driver to 1.11.3. ver tested, same problem :(

I guess this is a problem whit ML .

Just received Koutech Gigabit 10/100/1000 PCI Express (Marvel Card) from Amazon (sold by Koutech). It is the same card as Rosewill only rebranded and selling more than twice the price of Rosewill which is currently out of stock. It magically works OOB, automatically registered using AppleYukon2.kext which is difference from the current Mar Pro with intel 82574L.kext. I have no idea how to check performance between Koutech Card vs. real Mar Pro but as of now Koutech works fine with all things that I threw at it including YouTube (no blackened small windows). Loading youtube is snappier than on board NIC.

Still hope that hnak fixs his driver soon so people don't have to run out and buy lan card.

I just switched to the html5 version of youtube and I'm not seeing any issues with the Intel NIC at all (Flash works fine too), so not sure what you guys have done, but this is not an Ethernet driver related problem as far as I can tell...

not just a youtube issue.
in ml, browsing the net is not possible when downloading. can only browse when not downloading
