I just got around to messing with P7P55D since I updated it to 10.8 but didn't have time to optimize it.

I noticed after the update that my sound wasn't working at all. I checked system prefs and saw this:

The version of VoodooHDA that I had already installed was 2.21 and it worked fine on this PC under Snow Leopard and Lion. I tried reinstalling it but that didn't work.

I found this version and it got my my audio working: VoodooHDA 2.7.4.

It works for VIA® VT1828S 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC

You can install it kext by unzipping it to your desktop and running Kext Beast which you can get from our Downloads section. Once you're done, restart and you should get this:

If you hear crackle from your speakers, check your Audio MIDI Setup. It might show that it is at the highest setting 192000 hz by default. You will need to change that to a lower setting, probably around 44100 hz.

Hope this helps.

I'm hours of work in and you saved me hours more. Works like a charm, thanks.

All done but still got problems!

Hi,

I have an ASUS P7P55D Pro and installed the DSDT from this website and the Realtek ethernet kext. All working like a dream. Spend six hours yesterday trying to get sound - and woke up to your post this morning with fresh hope!

Alas I have removed the previous VooDoo kext, and installed the new one from the link, and rebooted. Adjusted the Audio Midi setup as suggested but still having problems. Any suggestion?

I get a 'pop' on boot and close down, and a crackle when I test the left and right speakers. I'm loosing the will to live - any suggestions?

Thanks,

Chris.

Mine only works crackle-free and lag free (videos and audio lags) if i boot "ignore caches" with the -f bootflag in unibeast. Any ideas?

How about P7P55D-E LX via vt1708s?

Hi Sir, I have ASUS P7P55D-E LX, and my audio chip is VIA VT1708S 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC, I installed voodoo 2.72 but the volume control doesn't function, I tried to delete it in S/L/E and replaced a customised voodoo but I got no volume/sound at all, I also tried to re-install the voodoo via MultiBeast, but I got a kernel panic, is there any voodoo kext that worked on my PC with all my preferences? I hope you can help me with this, thank you so much in advance.

Did you bother trying to install the version that is in my first post? It may or may not work for your audio device; I have no idea.

Anybody have any idea on what i should do about the "ignore caches" problem I have going?

Thank you very much.
It works in my Asus P7P55D.
I'm very happy
