So I did a clean Mountain Lion install on my new DS3H with I7 3770K. I have most things working except a couple of USB issues.

1. USB3 ports only act as USB3 and does not hand off to USB2. I have tried all combination of settings in the BIOS but I can only get a USB3 device to work on the USB3 ports and any USB2 device does nothing when plugged in. No power, no recognition.

2. Most of my USB devices are working properly except for a few. I have an IOGear USB 2 Card reader which worked fine in Lion, works fine on Macbook Air w/ Mountain Lion but I get a IOUSBFamily can not enumerate device error when plugging it into my Hackintosh. I have tried to rollback IOUSBFamily and IOUSBMassStorage kexts but then I lose USB3 functionality.

Also I have a Elgato Eyetv 2 which works fine everywhere else but my Hackintosh but then I installed the IOUSBFamily kext from my mountain lion Air and it magically started working.

And finally I have a new Dell U2412M monitor with a usb hub on it and when I connect that to my hackintosh it freezes system.

I have tried different SMBios as Mac Pro and iMac but nothing seems to change. I'm not sure if anyone else with this motherboard has these issues but if you do or have any insight I would love to hear it. I'm not using DSDT and only have the usual Kexts installed, FakeSMC, AppleHDA rollback and some hardware monitoring kexts.

Thanks guys!

I have the same board with an i7 3770. My USB ports all work (although I have no idea if I can get USB3 speeds, as I have no devices that are that new). Have you installed this kext? PXHCD.kext - Downloads - OSx86.net

Also, I assume you've set xHCI in BIOS? If not, put it to Auto.

My weird issue is that if I set my RAM to Profile 1 in BIOS I lose USB when waking from sleep. Have you had that issue?

So are you saying that if you plug a USB2 thumbdrive or anything into your USB3 port on the back, it will operate as normal(as in get identified in System Information and the device works)?

I think I did try that kext a while ago and it didn't do anything for me but I will try again.

Yes xHCI is all enabled and I have tried all options (Smart Auto, Auto, Enabled, and disabled)

I tried putting my ram on Profile 1 but It didn't work for me, I didn't even past POST. I had sleep working at first but i don't think it does anymore, which iM not sure why but i don't use sleep at all so its not a huge deal for me. On that note, does our board have Wake on Lan and do you have it working? If so that would be a good reason to use sleep.

Back when I had lion running 100% on that same board my USB 3.0 ports wouldn't work at all no matter what I did. I did have front USB and keyboard USB working fine by default.

Yeah, if I put a USB2 device into the USB3 port on the back it works as normal. Interestingly, today I disabled xHCI and the ports are all still working... I've even gotten USB to stick around when I wake from sleep using Profile 1. Except now my display doesn't wake up. haha.

I would get rid of that kext (if you're using it) and go back to Optimized Defaults in your BIOS (be sure to change your SATA back to ACHI though) and see what happens.

Any Updates to this Thread? Have we found the proper kext or solution?

I have the same problem. Have yet to try any kext. since I am still reading threads..
Any update would be helpful!

Thanks.
Rhino.

Currently you have to disable XHCI in bios, then you can use usb3.0 port as 2.0 then you can plug in any device and it will work. In order to use 3.0, you need set enable XHCI, not auto in bios. But then it only works with 3.0 devices. 2.0 or lower will not work or get detected by that port.

Strange thing is mouse works thru that port regardless.

Thank you for mentionning the profile1. When I waked from sleep on my UD5H motherboard, i had a 30 sec hang at interval of 4 sec on the keyboard and mouse. I turned off the profile1 in the BIOS and wake from sleep wakes perfectly now!

You just made my day! :O)

Thank you!

I have the same issue with the same motherboard. I have discovered through serious hair-pulling that some devices work in some ports and not others, and no, not USB 2.0 vs 3.0, any USB ports in general. I have devices that work in some USB 2.0 ports and not other USB 2.0 ports. For example, my Kensington Trackball works in all USB ports, but my official mac keyboard only works in a few of the ports. Same issue with my Xone:DX DJ controller. I get the weirdest logs being dumped (viewable via console) and if I plug the device in one port, it's quite and works. In another, I see timeout and sync issues. I've played with xHCI and have tried all of the settings at this point, same result. I've also had a USB drive work in one port, I leave it connected and about 15 minutes later, OSX complains about the device being pulled out... and it hasn't.
