MSI PRO Z690 A DDR4 + i7-12700K + AMD RX 580

Hello;

I'm getting "1 alert" in About menu like this.

View attachment 564622

When I click on "About" I got "!" in memory

I suspected that this may the culprit. But when I click on that "!"

It seem like there is nothing wrong about the memory mapping.

Any ideas?
@NorthAmTransAm

Thanks.
This happens when we use product name MacPro7,1 without RestrictEvents.

But once we see “1 alert” next to About this Mac, we haven’t found a way to remove it other than by reinstalling macOS with either (a) custom memory mapping specified in config.plist or (b) RestrictEvents.kext added and enabled. Then we have to reinstall our apps and manually transfer all our files to the new system. If we use Migration Assistant, the “1 alert” message comes back.

If anyone has found a way to clear that alert message without doing a fresh install, please let us know.

I'll need to do some digging. This one is weird.

Both the missing "Wake for Network Access" and no Internet connection when booting to recovery are fixed. These 2 problems are related and caused by the AppleEthernetE1000 driver on I225-V. I copied the AppleIntelI210Ethernet.kext from Monterey to EFI/OC/Kexts folder and manually loaded it in config.plist. Also needed to add e1000=0 to boot-args in order to disable the default AppleEthernetE1000 driver being used. After these 2 changes, the "Wake for Network Access" option is now visible and I am also able to access Internet while booting Recovery. All these only application to Ventura. Monterey doesn't has these issues.

For those that use AppleEthernetE1000 driver with I225-V and still see the the "Wake for Network Access" option, it's because you've loaded WiFi driver or have other network interfaces. If you disable the WiFi driver from config.plist, the option will disappear.

That is not an exclamation-mark signifying anything is wrong at all. That's an "i" for "Information".

However maybe I'm misunderstanding and @NorthAmTransAm can help you. :thumbup:
You are correct, that is "i" not "!"

FYI
I already used RestrictEvents.

I just bought a new 4tb NVME drive to add some storage and tested all my slots. It's looking like I only get GEN4 NVME speeds on slot 1. All my other slots are capped at 1500mb/s. Wanted to see if anyone else had this problem?

I believe the available PCI Lanes are probably prioritized in a certain manner. For example, if we didn't have the x16 GPU perhaps the other m.2 slots would work at Gen4. I'd need to do some more research on this.

That’s possible for sure, has anyone tried adjusting the speed manually in the bios? Default is usually “Auto” so maybe setting them to 4.0 would yield better results

I did awhile back while trying to get a 980 Pro to play nice with macOS. Long story short, it freaking wont. Even as a storage drive it still sandbagged macOS that was booted from another drive. Weird stuff. I eventually stuck it on a pcie card and it behaves fine but only as storage.

It would be cool to see if we could intentionally slow down our drives by switching to a slower gen.

Thanks for the reply and explanation. I went ahead and bought a PCIE4 card expansion after spending a few hours last night tweaking the BIOS settings with no avail. Its pulling gen4 speeds :headbang: and two GEN4 nvmes are perfect for my purposes.

BTW, I noticed that you specify to set CPU Lite Load to Mode 9. That setting actually made my computer stutter and scored around 1000 Geek bench 5 single core score versus having it on auto gives me 1979 GB5 single core score and gets rid of the stutter.

What do you mean CPU Lite mode? Its been a minute.

It looks like that setting adjusts the voltage, so I think maybe it's some differences in our CPU manufacturing / power supply and, or other hardware.
