Hi.
I had a happy high sierra install for the last few years. I finally need to upgrade it so just purchased a Sapphire RX580 to replace geforce 980ti.

The rest of machine is intel 9900K on Gigabyte z390 aorus pro, Samung Evo 970 ssd.

I have tried Clover and Opencore - neither working

(1) Clover - Booting but no screen
I eventually managed to get the high sierra to install after various attempts at upgrading clover and the kexts.
It now boots with clover 5119 but the monitors do not work.
I have tried DP and HDMI ports. Various settings (enable disable igpu), radeon boot flag, setting number of ports to 5.
I can however access the machine via screenshare from another laptop this way.

(2) Opencore - Panic during boot.

I have followed the opencore process and have an EFI that now that starts to boot but panics.
I attach a screenshot showing where it stops.
Couple of things I notice are the lines

- Refusing new kext as.vig9696.Lilu, v1.6.3 already have prelinked v1.2.1.
- NvidiaGraphicsFixup: init @ failed to call parent 7

It seems to have an old Lilu registered but I don't know why that is?
I also don't have nvidiaGraphicsFixup in the OpenCore EFI so why is that appearing?
I wondered if it was in my /Library/Extensions but I've now removed all nvidia kexts from there and run disk repair.
I've also added the nvramreset efi and selected that at boot.

------
In both cases I'm using imac 19,1

Appreciate any suggestions that might make either of them work.
Thanks!

make sure to remove your hackintosh kexts from /Library/Extensions

make sure to not use NvidiaGraphicsFixup

Hi

I think I've done that but im not sure if I've done it all correctly.

I don't have either of those kexts in my /Library/Extensions, /System/Library extensions or EFI folder.
(see screenshots attached)

I do have a backup EFI folder on the /EFI partition, could it be looking it there?

Could it be cached somewhere?

zip and upload your EFI

EFI.zip is the opencore one I'm currently testing that fails with the lilu/nvidia error.
EFI-loading-no-graphics.zip is the clover one that boots but screen is blank.

Thanks for taking a look!

let's ignore the clover one for the time being an concentrate on just opencore

As per rules, please update your hardware profile to allow others to help you easier

also use the reset nvram at the opecore menu and see if that helps

Sure, happy to focus on opencore.

Ok just updated the profile with my build details - anything else I need to add?

I've also done the nvram reset a few times now and again now.
I just press space when it arrives at the menu and then I select the reset nvram option. It restarts the computer and returns back to the menu.

It doesn't seem to have any impact on the boot though.

thanks

the reset nvram will just restart your machine (after resetting nvram) you won't see it doing anything else

once you have done that, take a pic where it stops to re upload here

When I add the intelmausi kext it doesn't fully bootup. After the stream of debug output it just goes black and it doesn't reach the apple logo.

I tried with latest 1.07 both release and debug of intelmausi. I'm pretty sure my Gigabyte board has intel I219 network.

The other problem I have is that it doesn't shutdown properly. Apps close but it then stays showing the desktop background and I have to do hard shutdown.

So after it went black again trying the intelmausi kext, I left it and was reading another webpage. Suddenly it came to life and I could log in and internet works.

It still doesn't shutdown though.. and after forcing a shutdown, it takes a couple of minutes to startup again - maybe due to not shutting down properly?

What do you think could be causing this?
