Hey Feartech i guess i did something wrong. I tried to use the system to just update from Catalina to Monterey which all the posts i read said it should just work, but i seem to be in an error loop and i dunno why, i never read anything that said i needed to change anything to the plist to update. I have a working Catalina no issues, attached the error screen im getting, i looked up what i could but im not finding much and the only thing i did find didn't have a soloution.

I mapped my usb ports exactly as you had advised removed all the white unknown ones and made the USB kexts file. Now I am not using a USB stick in anyway with the upgrade everything i read said i should just be able to update from within the system like a normal mac that is correct?

when you created your usb ports kext, I assumed you used a usb2 and a usb3 device to plug into all your ports?

and you used a usb c device to plug into your port as well?

yup followed the guide to a letter made sure i used both usb 2 and 3 and usb c. I used a usb 3/C card reader with a sd card in it and a usb 2 drive to map the ports eveything showed up and registered in green as the guide

The New Beginner's Guide to USB Port Configuration said it should. Is it possible one of the unknown ones is needed?

Ok gave it a try and it went into the install. I can't believe something so tiny as that caused the whole issue. Now, hopefully, once Monterey installs I still have Bluetooth. Thank you again Feartech you are a saint.

I had decided to do this based on another forum I found recently where someone had posted their success with Monterey, and they indicated they where using the above kext so I never even thought it could be a problem.

surprising how something like that can make a huge difference! glad you getting there! :)

Everything is installed and working, i even swapped from itlwn to the Airport one for Monterey and thats working. As far as i can tell the only thing i have left to investigate and see if i can figure out is the audio combo port, headphones work but the mic just reads as line in and doesn't function. I am going to do a live cd for linux and double check my audio card make sure the one i am using is right, and if it is then i don't think there will be a fix as it only has 2 codes 3 and 13 and i have tried em both.
