Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Successful Install!
Congrats, looks amazing. You've been wise enough to replicate Golden Builds by Pastrychef and CaseySJ. Does save a lot of time, trial and error and tribulations for sure. The Golden Builds forum here is probably the most visited hackintosh related content in the world and for good reasons.

@CatBus,

Very nice post and lovely build!

I'll add a link to this in Post 1 because it offers a solid user perspective that others can benefit from.

@CaseySJ

have you had the chance to analyse my previous post? Thanks in advance!
Yes we're seeing this problem across the board. It's not just a Z690 or ProArt issue, but occurs whenever a cable is connected to the Aquantia port.

If you disconnect the cable, does the computer sleep and wake properly?

We'll look into this sleep issue with cable connected, but cannot make any promises about finding a solution. We've just managed to get the AquantiaAqtion driver working on AMD Ryzen in both Monterey and Ventura despite lack of AppleVTD.

Thanks!

Again, I can't thank you enough for a well-curated EFI folder - that alone saves hours of work. Couple that with 2,000+ posts to this thread and there was more than enough help to get this built.

BTW, total cost of the build - not counting the Apple BT keyboard, trackpad, and mouse with Fenvi WIFI/BT card and monitor - came to ca. $3200 USD. It would have run closer to $4K were it not for the parts I already owned and could use for this build.

Absolutely!

This build "replaces" the prior build, which was @pastrychef's, as you noted. I've had a great 2+ year run with that and would have kept going, but Adobe CC was complaining and refused to update to the latest version without an OS upgrade to Big Sur+. I decided it was time to see what the current O.C. builds were looking like and whether an upgrade made sense.

Huge kudos and thanks to @pastrychef and @CaseySJ!

  • First attempt: The Problem: OpenCore 0.8.3 and macOS Big Sur- I chose Big Sur because I plan to use this build for a combination of digital photography, video editing, and a bit of digital music production. I checked compatibility lists for the big ticket apps that I use and most of them recommended Big Sur with a proviso that Monterey support was still a bit sketchy. So, I figured I'd go conservative.
    • Here's the problem: I could not get macOS Big Sur to recognize the Marvell Aquantia AQC113 10 GbE LAN adapter. I spent a couple hours reading through Tonymacx86 forums and doing some Google searches and reading. There were a handful of on topic posts in ******. I tried a couple SSDT's and tinkered with kernel patches, but... No Love.

      I'm too old to keep banging my head against the wall...
  • Second attempt: The solution: OpenCore 0.7.8 and macOS Monterey - I started from scratch, rebuilt the install USB drive with the O.C. 0.7.8 EFI and a fresh download of macOS Monterey and everything installed and worked!
...

Regarding the Aquantia AQC113, it is actually not supported in Big Sur, which supports the previous AQC107 model. Monterey was the first to introduce support for both AQC107 and AQC113.

Thanks! That's helpful.

I believe the USB issue is likely due to BIOS. Others have reported similar problem when using 13th CPU on Z690.

Which version of BIOS is installed?
My BIOS version is 2103, which is the only one support 13th CPU. :crazy:

I wonder if MMIO WhiteList could make a difference. This is mostly speculative, but it’s one of very few if any remaining options.

This is relatively easy to do. We just need to use the debug version of OpenCore.efi and set Misc —> Debug —> Target to 0x67

Then reboot and log back in. And now we can switch back to release version of OpenCore and previous value of Debug —> Target.

In the root folder of EFI partition there will be an OpenCore log file. Simply compress and post it.
