Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

BIOS F21 has been released:

  1. Checksum : 4137
  2. Improve DDR5 5600 32G
  3. Improve the linkage between Resizable and 4G above
  4. Add "Instant 6GHz" profile in CPU upgrade option (supports i9-13900K/KF and i7-13700K/KF)
Has anyone tried it?

I'm making progress on my Z790 Aero G build. I use iStatMenus on my Z390 build to see CPU temperatures w/ Intel Power Gadget. On my Z790 I am not able to see the temps. Is there something different we need to do for Alder Lake/Raptor Lake?

Update: Looks like I did not have SMCProcessor.kext loaded. That is what reports the temp.

This may be a long shot, but what are the makes and models of all SATA SSDs and HDDs in the system? Are you using only the built-in SATA ports?
The SSD is a WD BLACK 2TB SN850 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive - Gen4, the HDD's are several Seagate and one Toshiba (have used them a long time), on the built in SATA ports.
HDD's are:
Seagate Desktop HD - 2
Seagate Barricuda - 2
Toshiba - not sure the model as I will need to take it out.

I have unhooked all of them and tested sleep by Apple - Sleep, and it did sleep a few times, then once never woke up. It did show a 03 on the board debug LED code.
So I believe you are on not far off.

It does shut down better with them all unhooked.
I will keep testing.

I would also suggest disabling “Wake for network access” from Energy Saver in System Preferences. Although we recommend this in case the computer does not enter sleep, it may be worth trying anyway.

I have had that disabled all along. Maybe try enabling it?

Sleep problems are most often due to USB devices and/or USB port mapping. Some PCI devices can also affect sleep.
  • What USB devices are connected to the internal USB 2.0 header?
  • Which WiFi/BT module are you using?

The case USB is attached to the header. The case is a Corsair, Carbide Series 678C Low Noise Tempered Glass ATX Case. The BT is an Apple chip Broadcom BCM94331CD wifi + Bluetooth with adapter.

Try disconnecting both headers.

Because one of the USB 2.0 headers is connected to the front panel black USB 2.0 ports, we’ll have to set that port to type 0 instead of 255.

To help with that, please connect a USB 2 device to any front panel USB 2 port and run IORegistryExplorer. Then select File —> Save As… and post the IOReg file.
