List of Macs that can run macOS 13 Ventura

The environment was totally different in 2005. Apple had the serious urgency to ditch PowerPC, as G5 was weaker and hotter than expectations, and Power Mac G5 was leaking liquids terribly. Apple took just one and a half years to replace all PowerPC-based Macs with Intel-based ones. PowerPC platform also gave up on the consumer market.

It’s been two years after WWDC 2020 and Intel-based Mac mini and Mac Pro models are still available now. Apple has no urgent needs to accelerate the transition, as we know that Apple silicon may be better in some areas, but the competitors are not weak at all.

Is a comparisson bt petroleum and hackintoshing. Enjoy until the end !
Agreed. I cannot fathom purchasing a petroleum vehicle after my current lease expires. Now we have lots of viable all-electric models and my home has 5.4KW solar array.

It wasn't so much that PowerPC platform gave up on the consumer market, no one but Apple used them for consumer PCs. So when Apple dropped them, they were out of the consumer market by default. Also, PowerPC was still used in game consoles...

Apple introduced the M1 MacBook Air in November, 2020, so it's been just a tad over 1.5 years and all but the Mac Pro has transitioned over to Apple Silicon. Apple said that it would be a two year transition so I expect the last Intel Mac to transition before the year is over.

This is a good sign:
In fact, as long as your model of Intel Mac matches the minimum requirements for macOS Ventura, there's relatively little in terms of new features that will be off-limits to you. That said, here are three exceptions that we've been able to identify as being exclusive to Apple silicon.
On the other hand, the article injects this statement near the end:
Expect Apple to reduce software support for Intel machines at a faster rate from 2023 and beyond.
Not really sure what they mean by “reduce software support”.

It is simply a prediction based on the upcoming completion of the two-year transition.

Intel gave a new life to Mac, whatever Apple is today in Mac section its because of Intel. Also with the Silicon macs, CUDA is dropped and I'm not able to run CUDA based machine learning projects. CUDA is more suited for machine learning and Data Scientists still prefer Intel and Nvidia based machines over any other. Lets see how they create a parallel world against CUDA in the world of machine learning.

Switched SMBIOS from iMacPro1,1 (2017) to MacPro7,1 (2019). Hope that mine can last two years longer...
I just had a look at the Apple store. A Mac Studio with 8TB storage(a replacement fo my current Hack with less RAM) is a whopping 5k...

I can get the basic Mac Studio plus some OWC and Sonnet hardware for my current storage, but that will still cost over 3k.

That's a hard to swallow investment that I am going to postpone as long as possible.

I still feel that the base Mac Studio is an extremely good bargain. I went back and looked at how much I spent on my first "from the ground up" hackintosh build cost me. As you can see below, I spent ~$1200 just on motherboard, RAM, power supply, and fans. Tack on a video card (~$450), CPU cooler (~$120), computer case (~$100), 10GBase-T card (~$100) and SSD (~$100) and I'm within spitting distance from the $2000 for a base Mac Studio. Keep in mind that these are 2016 prices, before supply chain issues and inflation skyrocketed.

I don't understand why so many people complain about the price of maxed out configs of Macs. Honestly, how many people bought fully maxed out MacPro7,1s or got the 8TB option on their Mac Studios?
