[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Would be curious to know if it’s possible too…

**Probably inside the main BIOS file?? Someone?
I managed to do this, but I don't remember what I downloaded in Win 10. It worked a treat, the connection to the QNAP I had connected via TB jumped to life immediately. In Windows, that is. Haven't noticed a difference in MacOS though, mounted TB drives will not survive sleep or a cold boot. In fact , the whole TB section in the BIOS will often disappear if I forget to unmount the TB drive before shutdown. This used to be better, maybe I should try some older TB related kexts.

Maybe with the TBT flash utility inside this: https://egpu.io/wp-content/uploads/wpforo/attachments/26630/10769-FW23.zip

**Indeed: unzipping the first package then unzipping again the EXE, I got the TBT flash utility inside... I guess it should be installed as a regular program but you would have to replace the bin file inside.

Hi @CaseySJ I finally had a moment to upgrade to OpenCore (and upgrade the BIOS to version F9g). On the whole, the system is stable. But just as before on Clover, the CPU averages out at 10% usage, even under intense computing tasks.
I've attached the new EFI.
Please help.
Thanks!
Hello @bluestarstudios,

Some questions:
  • How are you measuring "10% usage"?
  • Have you tried using a stopwatch to time certain operations, and compare those timings against another system to see if indeed the Designare is performing significantly more slowly?

I rebooted in Windows to check what I used:
mb_driver_626_thunderboltdch_1.41.890.0

What's in a name?
Usually, the firmware version is indicated in the Thunderbolt utility. It looks like it’s your driver version instead…

** OpenCore 0.8.0 Released **

To upgrade to OpenCore 0.8.0 please follow the HackinDROM instructions located here:
However, do not use OpenCore Configurator 2.59.0.0 because it is not compatible with the release version of OpenCore 0.8.0. Instead, use OpenCore Configuration 2.60.0.0. After performing the upgrade with HackinDROM, no further changes or edits are needed.

Always keep a backup copy of previous OpenCore EFI folder in the EFI partition of a USB flash disk (for emergency boot).

Monterey Users:

The existing SmallTree-Intel-211-82576.kext for the Intel i211-V Ethernet port does not work in Monterey, but thanks to @gagaraz who found a newer version, the port works once again.

Procedure (see screenshot below):
  • Set MaxKernel to 20.99.99 in config.plist --> Kernel for SmallTree-Intel-211-82576.kext
  • Add an entry in the same Kernel section for SmallTree-Intel-211-8259x.kext
  • Set MinKernel to 21.0.0 for this new kext
  • Also copy the file (attached) to EFI/OC/Kexts folder in the EFI partition
Once you make this change, you will not need to make it again when next version of OpenCore is released.

Brilliant!!!

Brilliant!!!
I upgraded my spare SSD to 12.4 & OC 0.8.0. Smalltree ethernet driver doesn't work, I knew that, so I removed it. Apple driver kicked in after a reboot, port worked once. But after getting rid of some OC warnings, this port kernel panics and even kills my WIFI and/or router...

What am I missing?
