MSI PRO Z690 A DDR4 + i7-12700K + AMD RX 580

Okay im fine, so its noch crashed anymore :D ! But im woundering, he shows me a i5 12600k but i have a i7 12700k?

Hi guys any chance anyone is using dual or multiple monitors on this ?
6600 wont boot with dual monitors anything i need to do or change?

Follow Feartech's advice ASAP. TIA.
I dont have any hardware yet, I just wanted to know if it's possible to disable the 3060 if i follow your build. I don't wanna buy all the hardware and it won't run or give me problems

I succeeded! Here are my 2 main problems if it can help.

First, beginner's mistake. You were right for the CFG Lock. I think you forget it.

My second problem is a little weird. I do my install from an external mechanical disk. When the system reboots to install MacOS. It does not restart because it remains continuously powered. I have to change the usb port. I took USB 3 back for the copy of the one, and USB 2 in front to start the EFI of the internal installation disk. At least it works now with the EFI of the post 161.

When OpenCore 0.8.0 is officially out, I'll have a more detailed and "universal" way going about it. Since CFG Lock is so buried I'll just disable in the EFI out the gate. I'll add a note to the guide about it for now.

Also (attn: @MattBruuuuder) make sure you set Intel Speed Shift to Enabled in BIOS. It won't turbo boost when set to Auto.

I can't test this to help out. I recommend digging through the site and finding someone who has as lot of people have that GPU.

If you read through @Feartech 's guide(s) you'll learn that you can disable the 3060. You can disable anything you'd like really. But again, you'll need another GPU for macOS.

the 12700k GPU is not supported

Hi! Yes, well that came from his build not mine. I am presuming that's what worked for him before so left it there.
Otherwise yes I used USBMap on my build too.
Forgot to reply. I saw your Linus video post btw. I love that channel so much. They just posted a 2hr video on building a pc that was asmr to me.

***OpenCore 0.8.0 EFI***

A few notes about some custom SSDT's and Patches

  • I've added a patch labeled (commented) Null \_GPE.DTIN. It prevents a 3 second boot hang that exist when Thunderbolt is enabled in Bios. Disable if not using Thunderbolt. Also fully disable all Thunderbolt options in Bios.
  • I've included my own USBMap.kext that covers most internal connectors and the back panel I/O. The internal USB 2.0 connection is set to 255 for Bluetooth or USB 2.0 from a Thunderbolt card. No need for any mapping on this build, just follow my guide.
  • AirportBrcmFixup.kext is optional.
  • OpenIntelWireless.kext is optional
Note: If you are using the Wifi variant of this board and would like to use your Intel Wifi then you need to remove AirportBrcmFixup.kext and add the OpenIntelWireless drivers. OpenCore will not boot with CNVW (onboard Intel Wifi) enabled in BIOS unless you have the driver installed.

Please refer to this chart for graphics cards as you might need to add the boot argument agdpmod=pikera

Note on GPU: Copied from another thread here.
  • A discrete GPU is required because Alder Lake's iGPU (UHD 770) is not supported in macOS.
  • Recommended GPUs are:
    • AMD RX 400 series, RX 500 series, RX 5000 series, RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, RX 6900 XT.
    • AMD RX 6600 and 6600 XT are only supported in Monterey 12.1 and newer.
  • Boot Argument agdpmod=pikera should not be used on Vega 56, Vega 64, and Radeon VII.
  • Boot Argument agdpmod=pikera is required for AMD 5000 and 6000 series.

Also, please set Intel Speed Step Technology to Enabled in BIOS. Setting to Auto isn't enough.

Lastly, you'll need to add your own Platform Info.
