Is my Amd build compatible with the latest MacOs for Hackintosh

Hi,

I am completely new to the whole hackintosh/ryzentosh community and kinda lost to be honest. I wanted to use my build to make a hackintosh and then use it for development purposes. This is my build:
Mainboard: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Max WIFI AMD B450 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core Processor
GPU: RX 6600XT (new ordered)
RAM: 32GB
SSD: 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D-NAND TLC (MZ-V7S1T0BW)

I wanted to ask if this build is good for a hackintosh? And if yes which guide would be the best one for me configuration wise? Like I said I am completely new to this world and I am lost, I hope you guys can help me out :)

Also currently I am dual booting windows 11 and ubuntu I want to add macOs as a third option alongside those two, is that possible?

Yes it will work but you should get a separate drive for MacOS. Windows updates tend to corrupt macOS drives if they are on the some disk:drive system.

Go to the golden builds section and find Casey's build threads. It's a great source of current info and links to begin your journey.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the fast answer. The samsung nvme was just for the hackintosh, is that fast enough? What do you think

Samsung NVME 970 series do not work well in MacOS. The memory controllers are buggy it would be better to get a cheap SSD to start with. Western digital has some nice compatible nvme drives, but a standard 2.5” SSD would work and if you like it you could upgrade later to an nvme.

I am not sure which one to buy I will send the other samsung I had orderedt back. The 2.5 SDDs are mostly universal, I like the Sandisk Plus they have macOS firmware drivers. For NVME the Western Digital Black 750-850 series work well. The 850 has very fast PCI 4.0 but the B450 doesn't have that so the 750 will max out your speeds.

The best setup is to have MacOS on one drive and windows and Linux on the other.

Thanks for your reply, I hope I understood you correctly the 850 would be not good for me as it has the pci4 right? So instead I could get the 750 because that is compatible am I correct? I found the 750 for a good price and was thinking of getting it but it says 750 SE is there any significant difference between the se and not se?

What do you mean with macOS firmware drives?

I could buy the WD 750 se in one tb for 90 euros the difference is not that much. Which one would you recommend? Between those two sorry for all of the questions I just want to make sure that I’m doing it correctly.

Another question running hackintosh does not make an extra toll on the hardware right? Like making them run under more pressure rising the possibility of making them defect

I would have all of them on separate drives thanks

PCIe 4.0 devices are backward compatible and work at PCIe 3.0 speed with older motherboards.
But the 750 SE has a different controller and also has issues with macOS. You really want a 750 non-SE.

Hi thanks for the reply, then I’d like to buy a normal ssd because the price difference is high with a nvme I wanted to buy would’ve been second hand with warranty with a good price.

Which would you recommend? Is the boot time and general os speed loss to high with a ssd against a nvme ?
 
As far as I know, all SATA SSDs work. The SATA protocol puts a layer of abstraction between macOS and whatever controller the drive may use.
