macOS 12.3 Update Causes Problems for 5700/6800/6900 Graphics Cards

Hi @tucoboy

Try this!

Ted
THANK YOU! I will and let you know how it works. Now I have to reinstall v12.3 all over again - LOL! Test it out for 72 hours and let you know my results.

I tried Belknap and Carswell for my AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT and continues with a lot of lags, especially in adobe apps. I go back to 12.2 and wait for better updates.

Anyone who has RX 6800XT has this same image problem on MacOS 12.3?

For a reference model Sapphire 6900 XT, would it help or hurt to add this line?

Code:
         <key>device_type</key>
         <string>ATY,BelknapParent</string>

And is this line applicable for just a single card?

Code:
         <key>AAPL00,DualLink</key>
         <data>0AAAAA00</data>

Did you add the correct PCI path to your DeviceProperties? It might be different from the posted ones because of your motherboard. If you're not sure, confirm with Hackintool or gfxutil

@MysticalOS -- In my tests I didn't see much difference between Belknap and Carswell. I thought there was a difference initially, but I think it was due to some variation with GB and macOS. Someone mentioned that Carswell wasn't the right framebuffer, so I just went with Belknap. In my rig, I don't think it makes a difference. I just hope Apple fixes it so that we don't have to keep using this "band aid" and restores performance back to pre-12.3 levels.
Testing gigabyte rx 6900 xt gaming oc. Belknap perform a little more better (10 times of unigine each. Belknap 7200 points vs Carswell 6800 points). More coil whine on Belknap. Coil whine when browsing over internet especially where the dominant color is white. Rotate an object in c4d seems a squirrel torture. No matter if monitor display port is @60Hz or variable as suggested. Also, PSU fan spin a little even in idle like one of the three fan of the GPU (not on Carswell. PSU fan zero rpm, GPU fan zero rpm). The same on 12.1-12.2 and of course 12.3. This is a coil whine queen even under WinDOS, but at high frame rate only (in game or bench and not in c4d) and perform almost the same as Carswell (6800 points over 10 bench).
Just my 2c
Thanks all of you guys for posting,
Cheers

I have the first one. I tested the second one and it didn’t seem to make a difference.

Try it out using a tester EFI on a USB stick!

@tedyun
Hi, can you show me how to clear the graphics cache? I meet the same problem.

Well, it seems it doesn't quite work, and the ACPI path is build-specific. It's probably best to use property injection from the config.plist if you can.

Back to basics: If you disable the previous SSDT-RX5500XT and use this SSDT-BRG (just naming the ACPI bridges), can you apply device properties from config.plist?
:')
