[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

...thank you for the quick reply. Which OS did you have installed? I am currently on Big Sur
I tested BIOS F9 with Monterey. The system was stable in all other respects, so F9 should not be the cause for the crashes you're experiencing...

If you’re already running OpenCore with Mojave, simply upgrade to 0.7.8 by following the mini-guide. Use the manual procedure, which just requires copying PlatformInfo credentials across (fully explained in mini-guide).

Then perform an in-place upgrade to Catalina, but make a full bootable backup of Mojave first.
@CaseySJ, I'm not sure what I am doing wrong here; upgrading OpenCore when I restart the system, I am getting this error. Please take a look at the BIOS screens. Thanks

I have been attempting to update a Z390 Designare i7 9700K RX5700 XT that has been running OC 0.6.5, Catalina final build. I wanted to test out OC 0.7.8 assuming that it would work with Catalina before upgrading to Monterey. I used Hackindrom to create the EFI. I can get it to boot to the select screen from the USB stick but when I select the OS drive I get the following flash at the top of the screen: failed to drop acpi 52414D44
It then cycles back to the Gigabyte start screen. Even trying to update the existing OC directly from Hackindrom does not work. Thoughts?

Or manually add LogModules = "*" as String into Misc>Debug after DisplayLevel

Although that is not an error, it means that an incorrect version of OpenCore Configurator (OCC) was used. Each release of OCC supports only 2 versions of OpenCore. The latest release of OCC supports only OpenCore 0.7.9 and 0.8.0.

Because you're using OpenCore 0.7.8, it's necessary to download the previous version of OCC and explicitly set it's Preferences to "0.7.8 Release Version".

Alternatively, use HackinDROM App to upgrade to 0.7.9 and skip all of this version checking.

@CaseySJ, thank you so much for the explanation, but I am still getting this screen; I uploaded it manually using the OCC app that supports 0.7.8. Unfortunately, I can't use HackinDROM because the release on the site is only for OS 10.15 and higher. Do you know if I can get a HackinDROM for Mojave? Thanks
