[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

IMO, Big Sur, but you have to use UAD v9.15.1. I'm really stumped with your issue.

Is the system in question a Gigabyte Z390 Designare with (which processor?) with the 6900XT? What is your system model/config? Do you let your system sleep? Are you connecting the Apollo though a hub?
if i buy a Titan Ridge Designare.
i must flash it or not ?

Please check if BIOS parameters are configured correctly, including “Boot —> CFG-Lock —> Disabled”.

We can also enable verbose mode by pressing and releasing CMD-V in OpenCore boot picker before selecting the macOS boot disk.
Hi @CaseySJ Thanks for the tip. Confirmed CFG Lock is Disabled. And was finally able to get Verbose mode to to work. See photo attachment of output.

Please try CMOS Reset by shutting down the system, flipping power switch on PSU to OFF, and shorting the two designated pins on motherboard (refer to Gigabyte owner's manual for diagram/details). Then power back up and configure BIOS parameters again starting with Load Optimized Defaults.

Let's see if this helps.

Hi @CaseySJ That did the trick, I am back in business. Thank you! I may update to OC 0.7.8 soon as well. Anything in particular that would have caused this issue?

** Custom BIOS F9i with Latest Intel Micro Code 0xEC and Intel ME Security Fixes **
Credit: @Elias64Fr

WARNING:
Please install BIOS F9i OFFICIAL version before installing this one
If you are already running BIOS F9i, then you may install the new BIOS directly

Double Warning:
YOU MUST BE RUNNING BIOS F9i (official version) BEFORE PROCEEDING. IF YOU FAIL TO MEET THIS CRITERIA, YOUR MOTHERBOARD WILL NOT BOOT.

Introduction:
When Gigabyte released their latest BIOS F9 (no letter after "9") they fixed some important security vulnerabilities and converted the BIOS into a "capsule" BIOS that we cannot downgrade.

@Elias64Fr has just released a new modified version of the F9i BIOS that includes the fix for "Major vulnerabilities" and also updates the Intel micro-code. More specifically, the modified F9i BIOS contains these changes:
  • Intel CPU Microcode version 0xEC (04/24/2021)
  • Intel ME version 12.0.81.1753 for Security Vulnerabilities

The resulting file is called Z390DESI_modMC_04282021_0906_Rev_0xEC_modME_12.0.81.1753.F9i, and it's attached below.

As always, the decision to use or not use this BIOS is up to you. It is entirely optional. I have tested the new BIOS for half a day now and found no issues.

Procedure:
This version can be flashed with Q-Flash within BIOS Setup. Once again, this you MUST be on BIOS F9i (official version) before you can install this modified version. Failure to follow this requirement will result in motherboard failing to boot. Install that version FIRST if you are not already on it.

If you are on the F9 (no letter) "capsule" BIOS, continue to use that version and do not install this version.

@CaseySJ

12.3 Beta 2 and OC 0.7.8 greatly improved metal performance. It's not back to what it was on 12.2, but it's definitely useable now. Thanks for keeping this guide up to date!

A GC-Titan Ridge is easy to flash, so if your Apollo fails to connect with standard firmware, then certainly try flashing the firmware. All of the details are in Section 8 of the Quick Reference spoiler at the top of Post 1, namely:

For me abysmal graphics performance continues in 12.3 betas using 6900XT, GB metal scores down to 85k from 200k in 12.2. Hope they fix it soon, they must be tweaking the drivers or subsystem.

@oLiMonKeY With this thread's build, my UAD Apollo 8 (Thunderbolt 2 version) connects and hotswaps using Apple Thunderbolt 2 cables along with Apple Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapters. I did not have to flash any hardware. The Apollo is always connected to the computer. If your BIOS and the basic EFI is setup according to the build guide, your UAD device should work.

To be honest I'm totally lost now.
I have posted My EFi few days ago here.

Everything seems OK.

Have you got the link guide to start a new clean EFi ?
