Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

The new AppleALC looks ok to me.

There are some differences in config.plist:

UEFI>>AppleInput
(added PointerPollMin, PointerPollMax, PointerPollMask)

and

UEFI>>Audio
(AudioOut replaced by AudioOutMask, added DisconnectHda, MaximumGain, MinimumAssistGain, MinimumAudibleGain, removed MinimumVolume and VolumeAmplifier).

Do you know if these need particular set?

I saw this on another page:

I have never bothered to configure mouse/trackpad for the boot pickers.

The default settings for UEFI > Audio work fine for me.

Hi everyone,

does anyone use a Apple Magic Keyboard (3. generation, with Lightning input) with our Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming Build?

My keyboard works via bluetooth perfect in Monterey.
It works also in BIOS when connected via a lightning to USB cable - but it doesn't work in OpenCore Picker, so a can't reset NVRAM etc (and would have to keep a standard keyboard within reach).

Any ideas on this?
Thanks in advance,
Stefan

I had this exact problem. I can’t recall how I stumbled onto the solution but I disabled OpenUsbKbDxe.efi driver and the problem went away.

Hi ngc7789,
Thanks for the hint - yes, that solves it for me too!

Is there any downside on disabling the OpenUsbKbDxe.efi?

Thanks again!
Stefan

Hello Pastrychef,

Sorry to bother you, but I'm having issues trying to get my hack up and running. Your a mod and have a Z390 board so I thought you might be able to steer me in the right direction. I've got a Gigabyte Z390M UD motherboard with F6 BIOS and an i5-9600K CPU. I'm having problems getting my USB installer to boot fully. It seems to be getting stuck with a possible USB issue. I'm using OpenCore 0.77 and followed to guide closely for my Coffee Lake CPU. I'm pretty sure my BIOS settings are correct. I followed what the guide said to enable and disable. Could you please have a look at my config.plist file and make recommendations?

Thank you,
Steve

If you mean Z390 UD, you can start here. This would be more specific to your motherboard. My son has this board, and I setup his EFI for him.

Try enabling config.plist > Kernel > Quirks > XhciPortLimit and see if it helps.

Ok, so I've made some progress. I had a HD with Catalina installed on it from a previous build. It was a Z390 Asrock mobo with my current Intel i5-9600K CPU. But, at some point, my OC stopped working, and I couldn't boot into it. I've now got the Z390M UD mobo from Gigabyte, and it's working much better than the Asrock board. I used the EFI from @nottooshabby, made a couple mods and was able to get my previous Catalina install to boot. So now have a working Hackintosh.

I have an extra drive and want to install Big Sur or maybe Monterey on it. Here's my issue, I made the USB installer, added the EFI from @nottooshabby to the hidden efi partition and rebooted. The OC picker comes up, and I see the Big Sur installer and select it. The text starts streaming, and ,some seconds later, I get a black screen with the Apple logo and a progress bar. At some point the screen goes black, and, a few seconds later, I get the installer screen. So here's my issue. My USB mouse and keyboard don't work. I can't choose anything or do anything. My USB ports are working because I can boot the USB drive. I have XhciPortLimit checked in the config file. Anyone know what might be going on?

Thanks,
Steve
