[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

If your Waves update plan is current, there is a v13 update that is Monterey-friendly.
Regarding UAD: https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408846715796 -TLDR, Big Sur is supported, Monterey is not, but it works for me fine in OS 12.1. FWIW, There was a firmware update for the Apollo 8 Quad with v9.15.
If you have the API Vision Channel Strip, anything past v9.13 will turn your Unison channel strip into a Legacy, so you'll have to repurchase it.
Thank you jiffyslot!

Hey, Guys! Quick Question. I am still on Catalina and thinking of going to Big Sur or Monterey. I use my Hack for music production and plugin compatibility is the main reason I am holding back stil. Are any of you in the same boat? Does anyone have expirience with music plugins (Waves Fabfilter kontakt izotope, etc.) and Big Sur or/and Monterey ?

P.S. Also UAD Apollo x4 and driver compatibility is a concern.

Get a spare internal drive or external even, install the OS you want then test it out for your needs. If not working for you boot back to your regular install and wipe the drive for a spare. A simple easy no fuss way of doing any of this, I have used for over a decade when doing major upgrades. Same with the boot loader updates I always boot from USB drive containing the files then after week or two of use I will copy the now confirmed good working changes to the install. Just copied over the December update of OC to the drive last night.

Yes that is possible. It will be necessary to switch to config-Intel-iGPU.plist or do the following:
  • In your existing config.plist, locate the dictionary block shown below:

  • ... and replace that block with this:

@CaseySJ Well, this didn't work crashed right away. Do I have to have a monitor plugged into the Integrated 630 port or can I do that afterward?

A special and big shout out to the Golden Builder, the one and only @CaseySJ. Your build is as sweet as Kenny G’s music. So, once again, thank you very, very much.

Also, I wish you all, and everyone one around you, an early very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hello @Itshuta

Thank you for this 3rd anniversary remark! I was flying cross country yesterday — first time on an airplane in 2 years — and forgot all about it. Haven’t seen some family members in 2 years so I would also like to extend a happy and safe holiday season to all!

Anyone update to the latest BIOS. Could you post your results with latest OC?
I second. Anyone had tested the new BIOS? Something I don’t like however:
« Introduce capsule BIOS support starting this version.
Customers will NOT be able to reverse to previous BIOS version due to major vulnerabilities concerns. »

@canyondust installed a similar capsule BIOS on his Z490 Vision G with no negative consequences for macOS. It's been several days now, and still running okay.

However, I have not seen anyone do this on Z390 Designare. Because I have two of these systems -- one of which is a test bench -- I am willing to try the capsule BIOS in about 2 weeks.

Correct! My system has no issues at all, just last night upgraded to OC 0.7.6 + 11.6.2 without issue. I’d go up to Monterey but I’m still waiting for a solution for the i225V Ethernet.
