Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

OpenCore 0.7.6 has been released. This post will be replaced with 0.7.6 mini-guide soon.
Whoah! Are there any major benefits with the Vision D? Maybe Monterey is more stable? Got my RX570 and Music and TV+ are now working, as is audio in Monterey. Have to see what else is working, but I am feeling better about things. My Geekbench is only 32K with the 570, and should be about 40. Is there a turbo switch I am missing in the Mac OS? BIOS is stock so it should be around 40,000.

Hello @bishop21,

USB-C devices attached to Thunderbolt ports will work if they are connected before macOS boots up. But USB-C devices will hot-connect on the front-panel USB-C port. If your case has a front-panel USB-C port, simply connect the supplied cable to motherboard's F_U32C header.

However, if you connect a Thunderbolt dock to one of the Thunderbolt ports, then it should be possible to hot-connect a USB-C device to the Thunderbolt dock.
So it means that from the beginning, users that using Z490 vision D w/ flashed TB should've known that plugging the USB C to Thunderbolt port(s) will never get hot-plug and must've been connected before macOS boots up, yea?

Yes, for USB C front panel, it worked as it should be with hot-plug like you said. So the solution for this case is: "if you're about to make USB C hot-plug on Thunderbolt port(s), you should buy the TB3 hub that connected to one of the TB3 port and then you can connect the USB C to that TB3 hub and the hot-plug thing will work as it is." Right?

Monterey working mostly, but broadcom BT 4 seems to lock up when I try to access the selection menu in preferences. Do we know of a BT5 dongle that works? Also, I see intel wireless in the opencore release above. Does that mean I can ditch the Fenvi and use the built in wireless on the Vision D?

Circling back to USB Bluetooth dongle question. Now that 0.76 has been released with no Laird support, are there ANY USB bluetooth dongles working in Monterey? I don't want to use the built-in bluetooth.

The built-in Intel Bluetooth is supported by OpenIntelWireless on GitHub. It works quite well, but does not support most Continuity/Handoff functions.

Supported functions:
  • Standard connection with Bluetooth devices
  • Handoff (open Safari on iPhone and you'll see a notification in macOS)
  • Continuity Clipboard (copy something to clipboard on iOS device and paste it in macOS, and vice-versa)
Unsupported functions:
  • AirDrop
  • Continuity Camera
  • Sidecar
  • Annotate on iPhone/iPad
  • Unlock with Apple Watch
  • Authenticate Apple Pay with Apple Watch or iPhone
  • ... all other Continuity functions ...

Unfortunately none that I'm aware of. But all five of my Fenvi FV-T919s continue to function without any hiccups.

I hate you... but only a teeny bit ;-)
I have my Magic pad/keyboard wired direct for now. The keyboard works like crap in Windows BTW. For example, the Cntrl key doesn't work for context menu right pad click.

Hi there,

I have a question about Gigabyte Thunderbolt Maple Ridge PCIe add-on card.
Does it work fine?
Does Sleep work? Hot Plug works?
I have to install it on a MSI Z490-A PRO motherboard. I don't find Gigabyte titan Ridge cards anymore.

Thanks a lot!!
