Ohchang's build: Gigabyte Z590 Vision G + i7-10700K + AMD RX580

Unluckily I have an issue with this board.
Using it with an i7 11700K. iGPU disabled, Radeon W5500 8GB.
Bios F5
The issue is at the 2nd sleep subsequent wake leads to a reboot.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks a lot.

Cool stuff, to be able to install macOS updates you want to change your csr-active-config (SIP) value from FF0F0000 to EF070000.

Installed macOS 12.1 beta 2 today. Everything went fine.

-- Something different, which is unrelated because it was already present in 12.0.1 and 12.1 beta 1:
I had troubles with my Intel I225-V, my system randomly froze (time is still ticking, but all USB devices are disconnected) and the only fix is to hard-reboot the system.

I tried:
- My own proposed device properties fix. (a lot of issues, e.g., every 1-2h)
- What others proposed with the dk.e1000=0 boot argument. (less issues, but still some issues, e.g., 1 per day)

Reading on other forums on the internet, and for other mainboards here at TonyMac it seems there is not fix in sight. The only solution is buy a USB-(C) Ethernet dongle.

Anyone have success getting an on board optical drive to work with this setup?
If you mean typical internal optical drives, such as BD/DVD: As long as you have a free SATA port to connect it to, SATA cables, and power, you should have success. Anyone who tells you differently, is blowing the proverbial smoke. Cheers.

The i225-V should/will work when correctly set in DeviceProperties; possibly using the same device-id used in the Prime Z490-A. The correct PciRoot can be found using the PCIe tab in Hackintool. Add that same boot argument you mentioned into the mix, and you should be good to go.

Note#1: If you try to use FakePCIID, please don't, as that may cause crashes in Monterey.

Note#2: I suggest you use the iMac20,2 system definition for the Z590, unless you have a valid reason not to.

Note#3: Generating SSDT files specific to your motherboard using SSDTTime may generally improve success. You can find instructions in the Dortania guides, if needed.

Cheers.

Hi @macntosh

Note 1) No worries, I do not. See.

Note 2) As I'm using a i7-11700K and a RX 560 dGPU I'm following Dortania's guide, who suggest using the iMacPro1,1 in this case. FYI, the iMac20,2 is only for "i9-10900K".

Note 3) Thanks, I will have a look. In the past sleeping worked fine.

I have not further investigated, because I wanted to find a stable Intel I225-V fix first. Some suggested the freezes are related to some power-saving function of the Ethernet. I tried it, but it is hard to test, because the system now works without any crashes for over a week. Some suggested that using F3150000 over F3158680 results in faster boot times. Other said, one should avoid F3158680 (Intel I225-V) and use F2158680 (Intel I225-LM). As crashes are rare, I'm still testing various settings (e.g., Manual vs. Automatic, full-duplex vs. full-duplex + flow-control vs. full-duplex + flow-control + energy-efficient-ethernet [802.3az]). There are also multiple revisions of the Intel I225-V. The Z490 mostly had Rev 0x02, while Z590 and Z690 both use Rev 0x03.

iMacPro1,1 did look interesting. In the case of the Prime Z490-A (which also sports an i7-10700K), both the iMac20,1 and the iMac20,2 system definitions are supported; the emphasis being on iMac20,2.
  • iMac20,2 is also well suited for some Z590 systems, which is why I suggested it.
  • (FYI), iMac20,2 is most assuredly, not only for the i9-10900K.

Yes, specifically tailoring your SSDT's can have many benefits.

I've seen successes when patching i225-LM to spoof i225-V. This is (partly) what the combination of FakePCIID with the FakePCIID_Intel_I225-V injector kext does, if memory serves. I took that route for Catalina [Z490-A], in the absence of other available options. Less patching is always the better option, and fortunately with both Big Sur and Monterey, those kexts were avoided.

I feel your pain [regarding which device-id to choose]. Even Dortania has little information to offer (currently) regarding Z590's. In fact, there's a general lack of useful information (for our purposes), but that will change in time. I'm genuinely impressed by the Z590's, or at least, those I've been exposed to - there's so much to like - though, I'm sure the euphoria will fade eventually.

I can post the relevant config.plist sections from a Z590-E system (with i225-V working without issue), if that might be useful for the sake of comparison. Just ask.

Cheers.

same here. My build is z590 vision G, 10700k, Red Devil rx570, Bcm94360cd on PCIE, intel SATA SSD, after that wake reboot, the system shows a error message and ask if I want to report the situation to Apple.

Don't know what's the cause, thus don't know how to fix....I tried enable/disable ethernet, IGPU, but still having this problem. Did you get it working? Anyone has any suggestion?

I solved using Bios F4 but it's more of a workaround than a real understanding of what happens...

I'm on macOS Monterey 12.1 beta and I'm using BIOS F4 too. When I press sleep, the system goes down, the screen goes black, even the fans stop spinning, but just 1 second later the system awakes again (with me not touching anything). No clue how to fix this. With macOS Big Sur 11.4 sleeping worked fine.

Edit: Installed macOS Monterey 12.1 beta 3 today, no issues.

Fun fact, sleeping is now working again. :headbang:
