Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with the final version of macOS Monterey.
The installer is unable to detect my NVME drives, only external USB devices are shown in disk utility.
Installation on an external device is able to complete but leads to the same issue.
Those same Crucial P5 drives work fine on macOS BigSur.
I haven't tested if the issue occurs with internal SATA drives.
No changes when disabling TPM in bios.
My setup :
AMD X570 / 5950X / Radeon 6800XT / 2x Crucial P5 NVME drives / OC 0.7.4

Hi Leborgne,

I am about to undertake the same task with the NVME drive. What process did you use to create your drive?

Hi.
If what you mean by "create your drive" is what partition type and what file system I used then the answer is that I could not get to that point because no physical drive is detected (and no nvmexpress controller in system summary by the way). My guess is that Monterey handles NVME controllers differently and that additional OC quirks are required. Or can it be a security feature with non Apple hardware ?

Here's the error

I'm having this error, my OC config is working fine with Big SUR, however, when I'm trying to upgrade to Monterey, I encounter the same error.

Yeah i found out on other forums that it's specific to MSI motherboards with recent Bios. Only way to solve this issue so far is to revert to a 2019 bios AND a zen / zen+ / zen2 CPU. I see you have a 3600 Zen2 CPU so it could be done in your case, for me I'll stick with Big sur for the time being.

Oh, did you revert your BIOS?

EDIT:

Failed to read your last sentence. I will try reverting the bios of my motherboard

Did anyone figure this out? I have similar issue my M.2 NVMe is detected by High Sierra installer (had a old installer which i tried to test) but disk utility doesn't show disk in Monterey installation process. I used clover 5142. Added VirtualSMC.kext. Clover installer had an option to add NVMe which i added (doesn't work without it as well.

I have Gigabyte H170M-DS3H with
980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe 2TB. Processor is bx80662I76700k (Intel core i7-6700K 4GHz)

@leborgne
1. This may or may not have any effect:

(If enabled) try disabling:
Booter -> Quirks -> SyncRuntimePermissions: {True/False}
Reboot, Reset VRAM, Reboot

2. Try setting ScanPolicy to 0 (zero):
Misc -> Security -> ScanPolicy: 0
Reboot, Reset VRAM, Reboot
This allows detection of all file systems (assumes your drive is already detected).

@PrasadK - See if this applies to your drive.
