it eventually did reboot after a LONG time. One problem I have though is that I’m unable to boot into Windows 10 through the Open Core boot loader. The option is there but it never gets past the Windows logo. If I press F12 on boot and select the Windows drive it works though.

Edit:

Big Sur also doesn’t seem to be able to wake from sleep for me.


All in all this thread was super helpful! Much easier than my first Hackintosh install ages ago. THX!!!

Please try disabling AppleVTD (link is in the OpenCore 0.7.3 Mini-Guide).

Try disabling “CpuTscSync.kext” from Kernel section of config.plist

With the Monterey public beta, I have noticed something that concerns me.

I struggled to get a clone backup of two separate Monterey systems (my Z490 and my Z370), with the very latest beta. I normally backup via a USB to Sata adapter to a cloned 2.5" SSD, and I could not get any of my USB cloned disks to boot via any USB port on either of the two Monterey systems. Booting this way (USB to 2.5" Sata disk) has been my common practice for many many years, and with the exception of a hardware failure, it's always worked, and worked really well. Until this Monterey beta.

Just as an exercise, I decided to open the case on one of them, and plug that cloned drive directly into the system via a Sata internal connector, and it booted. Then I tried the other backup on the other system (connecting the Sata drive directly internally), and it also booted.

I know that you cannot boot Windows via USB, but my Linux systems and previous Mac installs always have. My backups of Linux are backed up via USB to a disk, and they boot just fine via USB.

Perhaps there is something wrong with my two systems, but I don't know and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this change with the latest Monterey beta?

I just created a full bootable backup of Monterey Public Beta 7 to an externally mounted SATA SSD (in a USB 3.0 enclosure). I used Carbon Copy Cloner 6.0.3 and give it permission to erase the destination disk (Legacy Bootable Backup Assistant...). Only then will it clone the "System" volume.

Booting Monterey from the external USB backup was successful.

Okay, thanks. I did also use the "erase the destination disk and Legacy Bootable Backup Assistant", just like you did for my backups. I always do, because I want my external backups to be bootable.

Must be me somehow.....again, thanks!

OpenIntelWireless 2.0.0-alpha drivers were released earlier this morning. They (finally) support both WiFi 5 (802.11ac) and WiFi 6 (802.11ax), but they may not support all frequency bands at this time.

Here are some observations from the Z490 Vision D with 2.0.0-alpha drivers on Big Sur 11.3 public beta 8.
  • My Internet download speed is 200 Mbps on cable.
  • My Internet upload speed is 6 Mbps.
OpenIntelWireless 2.0.0-alpha:
  • CHT Global
  • Razzolink
  • OpenIntelWireless driver was only able to connect to 2.4 GHz band on my 802.11ac router
  • The driver worked properly after wake-from-sleep!
  • Basic Handoff is supported as shown (Stocks and Safari from my iPhone were handed off to the Mac). AirDrop did not work.
  • The speeds below are on the 802.11n network (WiFi 4).
  • After disabling 2.4 GHz SSIDs on the router, OpenIntelWireless finally connected to the 802.11ac 5 GHz band and the results are amazing!​
    • CHT Global
    • Razzolink
  • Finally we have 192 Mbps and 201 Mbps!! Much faster than Fenvi FV-T919. Virtually the same as Wired Ethernet!
  • On the Netgear Orbi Mesh router, we disable the 2.4 GHz SSID as follows:

Fenvi FV-T919:
  • CHT Global
  • Razzolink
  • Fenvi was connected to 5 GHz band on the same 802.11ac router
Wired Ethernet (1 Gbps):
  • Razzolink
  • KamaTera

If you are already using the OpenIntelWireless EFI from this post, it is very easy to use the new 2.0.0-alpha drivers as follows:
  • Download the Big Sur and Catalina versions from here.​

  • Download both the Big Sur and Catalina kexts.
    • Big Sur version will be inside a folder called Big Sur
    • Catalina version will be inside a folder called Catalina
    • Filename in both folders will be the same: AirportItlwm.kext
  • In each of these folders, rename AirportItlwm.kext as follows:
    • AirportItlwm-Catalina.kext
    • AirportItlwm-Big-Sur.kext
  • Mount EFI partition of macOS SSD and open the EFI/OC/Kexts folder.
  • Drag-and-drop the two files above into the EFI/OC/Kexts folder.
  • No changes are needed in config.plist
  • Reboot

So if I want to have BT and WiFi on both Mac and Windows and don’t care much about AirDrop would you advise against getting a PCIe to M.2 adapter and an Intel AX201 card? It sounds preferable to the Fenvi card especially with its bad BT range (from what I’ve read).

Load the saved profile of Hackintosh.
Hackintosh working normally, but the SSD of windows (although the SSD is recognized on AHCI SATA section), It doesn't show as option to boot in the BIOS much less in the OpenCore.
What I do now? I removed the drive and put back - nothing.
I turn off everything pulling out the PSU cable - nothing.

I didn’t see your post until now (my bad). Have you made any progress with the Windows SSD? There are options to perform Repair/Recovery on Windows.

Do you use an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)? These things can be very beneficial.

On the Z490 Vision G the Fenvi AX3000 is a good choice. It will of course need the OpenIntelWireless drivers.

I've been away from this thread for quite a while, and I'm currently rocking Catalina 10.15.7 on a mostly equal build to the original guide. I'm also using OpenCore 0.6.0

I've been putting off the upgrade to BigSur forever since this is my production workstation, and I would not want to make it unstable. Now that I've got a week off, I'd like to do that.

I've just taken a full bootable backup with CCC, and verified it works. I've also tried to update to OpenCore 0.7.3 (latest) without success (it won't even show my Catalina SSD, just Windows and the USB EFI).
Jumping from 0.6.0 to 0.7.3 was likely a not very good idea, but I also wouldn't like to go over every 0.1 increments.

Can someone please suggest an upgrade path?

I should also note:
- My current EFI setup has OpenCanopy with a custom theme.
- I'm using the Z390 Designare with an i7 9700K + RX 580


EDIT: HackinDROM 2.0.0 beta won't even open on my build. I'm guessing that's bc of my very old OC.
