Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Some questions:
  • Do Thunderbolt and USB-C devices work when they're connected before booting macOS?
  • So only hot plug does not work?
Let's have a look at IORegistryExplorer, as follows:
  • Run the app and scroll down to RP05 section (do not use 'search' field)
  • Post screenshot of the window (CMD-Shift-5)
1. Yes, they'll work if I connect them before booting MacOS
2. Yes, only hot plug that doesnt work either USB-C and Thunderbolt 3

@CaseySJ Regarding your first point, no I have not done that since there is nothing wrong with my ssytem. I followed your second point and disabled AppleVTD but still the same issue. But that does not surprised me since AppleVTD was not available on 0.6.2.
It would be best to compress and post the entire OpenCore EFI folder after removing serial numbers from config.plist.

Alas that's what we feared. Some questions:
  • Is AppleVTD enabled?
  • Is Thunderbolt hot plug affected by AppleVTD being either enabled or disabled?
  • If you have Windows and/or Linux installed, does Thunderbolt hot plug work in those operating systems?

1. If I recall, I just using your OC 0.7.3 by default, the only thing I changed was the boot section like I add "-v". But, after I checked, it seems to be enabled according to your post about AppleVTD. So the answer is enable by default
2. I dunno, I could try by now if you want.
3. I think it doesn't work since I reflashed the Thunderbolt chip, so I'm sure it doesn't work on Windows, too.

Please try attached, as follows:
  • Backup the current EFI folder (or rename it to EFI-Backup)
  • Download attached file and rename top folder to simply EFI
  • Copy serial numbers back into config.plist --> PlatformInfo --> Generic/DataHub section
  • Copy entire EFI folder to EFI partition
  • Reboot
Success!

I now have an 8 Year old Gigabyte System Running Big Sur OpenCore on a Radeon RX570 dual booting with Windows 10 Pro on an Nvidia 1070Ti.

Thanks Casey so much for your assistance once again.

One more question before I start with my new install. @CaseySJ
Is it advised to install Catalina first and then update to Big Sur or can I install Big Sur directly as well?

thanks again!

We can install Big Sur right from the start!

@CaseySJ Hi there, in the early days of hackintosh and Clover, we had to "repair" the permissions from time to time (usually before or after a SW update). This could also cause issues (not have the permission repaired). is it still the case? I barely see any post suggesting to repair the permission to fix such and such problem whereas in the past it used to be pretty common. This is just for my own curiosity. I have not repaired any permissions in a while.

Permissions had to be repaired because of modifying /Library/ or /System/Library/. Unless you still add or modify anything inside, I don’t see the reason to repair.
