Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

If memory serves, it may be necessary to update to a newer BIOS in order to accommodate the RX 6000 series GPUs. Resizable BAR should remain disabled.

Depending on what problems (if any) that you encounter with the newer BIOS, the old F5 can always be flashed back. But it would be good to test the BIOS theory by upgrading.
OK, now I'm trying to update the BIOS to F20, I hope there's a good news for it.
Will it be affected for the Thunderbolt? Because I'm working with Thunderbolt environment, and it's really important for me. I stayed at F5 BIOS because you said so on first page about Thunderbolt stability.

Thanks,

It is possible that Thunderbolt may have difficulties, but let's see what actually happens. Please use a good quality USB flash disk because read/write errors on a cheap low-quality USB flash disk can brick the motherboard.

Are you referring to the Z490 Vision D or my new Minisforum HX90?
  • Monterey has been installed on the following since Public Beta 1:
    • Gigabyte Z490 Vision D
    • Gigabyte Z390 Designare
    • Gigabyte B550 Vision D
    • ASRock X570 Taichi
    • Asus X99 Deluxe II
I meant the public beta #7 of Monterey that was released yesterday. I’m having trouble updating from beta6.

How is the new HX90?

Public Beta 7 is not currently showing up in my Software Update. Is it the same for you?

I'm very impressed so far, although the machine just has a fresh copy of Windows 11 and latest hardware drivers. The zippiness is palpable, almost like the feeling you get with a V8 engine -- you can sense the beast waiting to be unleashed!

You may need to set csr-active-config to 00000000 to get it to show.
I've had SIP enabled for some time (i.e. set to 00000000) and Public Beta 7 just showed up minutes ago!

Monterey Public Beta 7 is indeed failing to install. It crashes midway through the first reboot.

Not clear if it's a bug in the updater, opencore, or if Apple is starting to lock down macOS. There's a thread on Acidanthera's github about Apple detecting opencore NVRAM variables and setting the mac model to unknown. See: https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues/1769#issuecomment-914203182.

But Apple just released the standalone installer package for Beta7, I'm going to try that and see if it works.

Currently testing but looks like the latest OC commit solves the reboot issue. You will need to enable the AdviseFeatures flag.

EDIT: Success!
