Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Yes, but are you noticing suffering performance? (I also use Luna, but not on my hackintosh). I ask because I think the video card memory usage display in iStat Menus is actually a bug. Does video playback slow a a crawl when you're at 100% GPU memory use, window animation become extremely slow / choppy, apps quit, etc?
@canyondust, Yes, we are experiencing performance issues. I should point out that we are using Luna primarily for Audio sweetening. A basic Movie session can contain 90+ tracks. Each system has 34 cores so that is not usually the issue. I say usually because we have exceeded the system cores at times.

The problem appears whenever the television is introduced at the final stages for video sync. Sessions that would normally take an average of 30sec to load increases to as much as 2mins with an ever present beachball.

Eventually Luna becomes unuseable with significant automation.

I must however state, the system performs flawlessly whenever the television is not part of the equation.

I have orded a BMD decklink.

That’s fascinating… that would suggest the automation system leverages GPU processing and I don’t know any other daw that does that… definitely out of my depth there, but perhaps my thought that iStat Menus had a display bug is wrong. I’m often at 100% with no display issues… (like while I'm writing this)

edit: missing words

Yes, We are taxing our systems significantly.

Hello, CaseySJ, great job as always for the new update 0.7.3 for me all working fine, but into the OpenCore GUI the keyboard (I have a Apple Keyboard Magic Black) doesn't works (is always plugged with the cable); but, if I unplug the cable, working by Bluetooth and the Apple Magic Mouse 2 Black working fine too; maybe the cable is plugged into a USB 2.0 not USB 3.1 to the back panel. Anyway all working fine! Thank you.

@CaseySJ,

Is there a specific reason/issue with the Vision Z490 D/G as to why you added the RestrictEvents kext ?
I don't recall ever experiencing an issue with the Vision G that would require it ...

Cheers
Jay

Jay,

It was added several months ago but never enabled by default. It can be enabled by the user if they wish to do the following:
  • Suppress memory notifications when using SMBIOS MacPro7,1
  • Change CPU name in “About this Mac”
So it’s only there if someone wants to use it. In fact I’ve also included the new “OpenLinuxBoot” and “ext4” EFI drivers, but not enabled them until I can test them myself.

As an experiment, please try disabling “OpenUsbKb” EFI driver, but do NOT use OpenCore Configurator 2.48.1.0 or earlier!!

@CaseySJ,

Fair enough ....

I'm using the iMac20,2 SMBIOS to get the benefit of IGPU compute so no need for the MacPro7,1 suppression of memory notifications and I believe the change CPU Name feature is only of benefit for users who are running AMD CPU's which of course does not effect the Z490 based systems.

Just a thought, you could send MTC to another system that just does video playback to relieve your Luna systems from having to push picture as well?
@canyondust, Exactly what we are doing. Trashcans are utilized for video content. They are connected to televisions, with black burst frame sync ref.
