It broke thermal management? could you explain?

never used one before, just happened to read about the ssd version the other day and recommended to not use the kext

What is the difference ?
thanks

Standard NAND based NVMEs (like Samsung's 980 or WD SN850) have sequential speeds up to 7GB/s (PCIe 4.0) but that's true if you don't run out of cache (which is a little portion of your total space) and then stabilize at 4-500MB/s.

Optane stays 2,6GB/s all the time (It has no cache, simply 3D Point is far superior to NAND) has latency closer to RAM values than NANDs, is super fast at reading / writing random small files (which is 99% of what we do in our real life usage and it's lifespan is like 20x NAND's and performances doesn't degrade filling it up.

My build is x299 PRO/SE with i9-10920X and RX-580. iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS and shikigva=128. I can't get AppleTV to work nor Prime videos. Both are showing black screen:

Any hints?

One strange thing I see is GFX:0, but my GFX0 is <"ASPEED ASMB9-iKVM">
and GFX1 is Radeon RX-580 video card. Any hints?

so went through this forum and I have posted elsewhere a thread of buying advice, but was really wondering what is the most stable (golden) x299 mobo that works well with 10980X.
Saw a couple here in this forum Asus Prime X299-A II and some Sage/10G boards, I really want a solid board which has minimal complications of installing Catalina on it.

@pieropontra @rustEswan considering you guys have the mobo any advice / any issues you guys might have encountered ?

Are you connecting through a KVM or have some other video capture device? The RX580 should be GFX0 and the shikigva args shouldn't be required. DRM works on my build without Whatevergreen

Maybe disable that device via SSDT could solve the issue? I read somewhere these devices are part of some workstation boards, I think it's a strange kind of debug GPU or whatever. I think the system recognizes it as 1st GPU and it broke you DRM compatibility. You don't need WEG or shiki with MacPro7,1 (I don't know if it's mandatory with iMacPro1,1), maybe consider switch SMBIOS.

I'm using it since a couple of months, pretty easy to hack it and totally stable no hassles, I can only recommend it.

We have the exact same motherboard, although I'm on BIOS version F7e because I have a 10940x CPU. I wiped my original MacOS 11.1 with OC 0.6.6, going to install OC 0.7.2 and MacOS 11.5.x soon, I've mapped what I need for USB, There are some BIOS settings that you should follow here under Gigabyte BIOS, then try. Don't give up yet buddy!

I'll update when I get the base USB EFI install working...
Yes! I've updated Bios to F7e version and now I can disable CSM Support.

But when I try install, this message occur: "OC: Failed to find SB model Disabled
Halting on critical error"

SB?....Secure Boot? I've tryed disable and enable, same message

Maybe I'll try your EFI but I've RX 6900 XT
