X299 Big Sur Support

That’s weird. Did you have it working pre big sur? Cause since i flashed it with @Elias64Fr NVM23 and made a custom SDST as described by @CaseySJ in his Z390 thread, i have never had any issues with TB at all. Both Catalina and BS

Can't remember pre big sur but it acts the same in BS and Monterey. Maybe I'll try that version of NVM23

EDIT: Everything appears to work! Cold boot/warm boot/hot plug. sleep/wake up. Had an issue where wake would cause instant reboot but added the GPRW patch and it appears to be working fine now.

Reflashed with NVM23, put the Thunderbolt card in Slot-2 and enabled Thunderbolt Settings but jumped pins instead of using the header. If you dont use thunderbolt settings, it appears that you need to do a reboot in order for it to be fully recognized. I was trying to use the U.2 ports on the Sage as additional PCIe slots but I may dedicate those to other things instead of thunderbolt

Just got it, and not gonna sugar coat it but I probably got the best deal ever.

4TB SSD (OEM Apple)
for just $6500

This probably retailed for $15,000+ not counting tax. I'm going to drop in the 6900XT into it (Probably leave the 580X or remove it) and upgrade the RAM to 192GB (Maybe more depending on how much it costs). I will then take one of the NVMES from the Hack and add it as a separate Windows storage for gaming. I rarely use Windows, but it's nice to have it for leisure in gaming especially now that the 6900XT can do 4k gaming.

Time to start parting ways with the Hack....unless I find a buyer that wants to buy a prebuilt one (without a GPU of course). I'll be retiring from here but I'll check to see how my fellas are doing from time to time

Overall very very happy with this whole scenario. I was tired of maintaining this thing day in day out, I'm not really enjoying dealing with OC upgrades/bios upgrades/hardware flashing/etc.

Also I really doubt Apple will have anything that competes with this 28c until maybe 2023, and the next Mac Pro will be intel as well, probably cost the same (maybe they'll bump the base model to 10 cores) and have a medicore W5700X GPU...so I think I got lucky here.

Has anybody with a GigaByte x299 Desginare EX done a fresh install of Big Sur 11.5.2 with OC 0.7.2?

I can boot fine, format the NvME SSD, start stage 1 install up to 12min, then BAM, reboot.
Then the installer boots fine, but I get to 24min and it all stops, presumably it crashes or race condition.

I may need to install an older OS version with most current OC, I dunno?

I did map my USB and it works, but without having a working install I can't even try to fix any ACPI stuff.

If there is a way to turn on extended boot logging to capture and share I will.

Hey everyone, just reaching out to let you know that so far MacOS 11.5.2 is working just fine. Haven't tried Monterey Beta yet, but I'm going to wait until the official launch.

I did have a question about an camera app that is working fine on my backup X299 setup, but NOT on my main X299 setup that is setup identically the same. It's camera app so I can use my iPhone as a webcam. I contacted the tech support dept and they asked me to put in a particular code in Terminal and I did and this is what it gave me:

I don't know how to tackle the problem but en0 refers to the first network port. Can be Wifi or wired depending on machine and configuration. If i am not mistaken this should be an pysical ethernet port on machines with one bulit in, e.g. a X299 Hackintosh.
Is it possible that the app in question needs this for some reason (licensensing?) and the port si not configured on this machine?
Maybe try "ifconfig -a" (without the quotes) in Terminal and see if en0 shows up. And maybe do this on your other machine and try to spot any difference.
