The Ultimate Low Cost Big Sur Hackintosh - Core i5 Dell Optiplex 3020 SFF

Have you plugged in any headphones to the front jack ?

Is 13 working alright for you ?
0D000000 (13) gives me a Line out and Headphone out. Plugging headphones into the front jack seems to work fine when choosing Headphone out. No internal speaker option appears, which is what I was looking for, as my wife uses this one as a desktop computer and often views quick video clips for class and doesn't use headphones. Might have to have some headphones available...

I'm doing all testing with Big Sur so that may account for some differences in how audio works. Apple often changes things between versions. I think you should be able to find an ID that works for the internal speaker if you want that to work. Keep testing till you find the best fit.

Will keep testing! Fun stuff. The Dortania OC guide is fantastic. Was having some i-services trouble (kept asking me to login to fix issues) with the Dell MAC ID / ROM, changed to an Apple device id OUI prefix and no issues since.

Thanks for posting your results, will help others choose their layout-id for their specific use case. I can add to this that HDMI audio works when using a DP to HDMI adapter. Whether it's a TV or PC monitor with speakers. Here's how the Sound Prefs outputs will look with layout-id 11. Volume level will have to be controlled by the TV remote, the PC speakers or the in monitor volume controls when using built in speakers.

What these results tell us is that the top 3 choices are layout-id 11,13,17.

15 is mostly useless. The 3 headphone only choices, 3,4,21 are too limiting. 16 only gives you the low quality internal speaker option, that is not best for me. I prefer to keep PC speakers plugged in full time and use the front headphone jack when necessary. So using 11 or 13 fits my specific use case.

Here's the white power LED light while the 3020 is sleeping. It "breathes" in and out just like a Mac mini does. Cool. The effect looks much better in a dark room. My cell phone camera can't record it in low light.

I could watch this all day. Love the breathing LED.

Just a quick note about the Ivanky 4K Active DP to HDMI adapter. The build quality of this is amazing. The ends are made of metal and the short cable is braided nylon and extremely strong. I've bought many adapters and this is the best in this price range. Cost is $12.99 on Amazon. Lower cost plastic adapters will often crack and fall apart over time. This will last a long time. Most adapters that claim to support 4K are HDMI 1.4a or b and can only do 30Hz. This is HDMI 2.0 and supports a 60Hz refresh rate. Worth the low price they are asking. Don't forget that you can also adapt a graphics card's DP output to HDMI 2.0. I'll be testing that out soon.

If you don't already have an HDMI 2.0 cable to connect to this adapter, for 2 dollars more you can buy this:

The value for the dollar of these is way off the charts. Gold plated connectors and super durable. You can also use it for 1440p high refresh rate gaming. $12.99 and 10% off with the coupon.
