Will this AMD based system work for a build?

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
GPU: ASUS GT 710 GDDR5 2 GB
RAM: 2x8 GB G.Skill Trident Z

I am currently using this system as a gaming PC with a Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super (that I know won’t work for a hackintosh build). However, I’m planning on running macOS on a separate SSD of course through the GT 710. Both GPU’s will therefore be in the system.

Can I get this to work?

Yes, being the short answer. You just need to create a custom SSDT-DGPU-Off.aml so your RTX 2070 card is disabled in macOS. You will also need to have two display cables connected to your screen, one each from the two dGPU's. Use the onscreen-display controls to switch between the two dGPU's when you use Windows and macOS.

Ok! By onscreen display controls that would be just switching input on my TV then, since this computer sits in the living room?

Yes, switching HDMI connectors via the ‘Source’ button on the remote, assuming your TV has more than one HDMI port.

Been holding off on building a new PC for a couple of years. I'm still using one I put together some time at the end of 2011, built around an overclocked i7 2700K. Apart from replacing the 7970 with an RX480 last year, adding an SSD and a couple of PWM fans, It's relatively unchanged. Basically I'm looking to build something new and don't know if now is a good time or not! I keep seeing/reading about Ryzen incompatibilities with higher-speed (non-Samsung B die?) DDR4 mem, and while I'd probably buy a graphics card somewhere in the 1070 Kodi nox price-range I'd rather have an AMD card so I can continue to make use of Freesync on my LG Ultrawide monitor.

Be prepared for sticker shock when buying a new AMD card. Even 1070 prices have gone way up this year.

This refurb 1070 costs a lot more than suggested retail.

Most any new macOS compatible Navi based card will cost over a grand.

@arberda2 People have successfully built AMD Ryzen Hacks. Yes they have issues, but that should be expected as Apple have never used an AMD CPU in any of their systems.

Your success would depend on what processes, applications etc. you plan to use. Adobe apps are known to have issues, as they rely on Intel processes on macOS, which the Ryzen systems can't provide.

You may need to relocate your current RX 480 to the proposed AMD system, as you are unlikely to be able to purchase a new compatible dGPU at a reasonable cost in the current market. You know the RX 480 will work with macOS, a compatible dGPU is essential for any AMD system, as they lack a compatible IGPU.
