found it on page 31 of the maual, but still not booting... Simply touching both pins with a screwdriver should be enough right?
@ndrik

When I turn the power switch off, then on, "Designare" at the bottom right of the board lights, and another light at the upper right lights up. If they don't for you, it may be a power supply problems. Also check all the power connectors to the board. With the board just sitting there for a period of time one wouldn't expect power connectors to pull out.

Perhaps the most likely culprit is the power supply? Was it unplugged while you were away?

Hello,
Good to see this thread and build keeps on getting better.
I've gone on holidays and upon coming back, my desktop suddenly won't boot, at all. It wasn't touched or moved while I was away and was still on, minutes before I left.
Was your computer powered on the entire time you were on holiday?

The symptoms are:
Pressing the power button on the Fractal R6 doesn't respond.
The MB shows led lights when turned on, but the RAM doesn't. Although I'm pretty sure RAM only lights up on boot.

Some google searches suggest the R6 power button can become faulty. Is there a way to fix it, or better to jump start the MB without it?

I've never faced such an issue before, what are the other troubleshooting procedure I could undergo?
Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Power/Reset header from the bottom right of the motherboard?

Alternatively, we can disconnect the Fractal Design power switch from the motherboard header (located on the bottom right corner of motherboard) and instead purchase a simple power switch like this one:

If the new switch works, then you can conclude that the Fractal Design power switch is bad.

Thank you for your help.

Do you mean the power switch (on the front of the case) on the power supply?
If I turn it on, the led of the board turn on, the fancy ones, in green, and in the zone where the USB, Ethernet plugs are.
The LEDs at the bottom right and upper right do not turn on when switching the power supply off and on. I'm not sure if those should only turn on when the computer boots though. Should they light up on idle?

The computer was powered off when I left, but I did not turn the power supply off (the switch in the back of the power supply). I never turn it off.

Yes, also tried shorting the power header at the bottom right of the board to hard boot it.

I'll try this if I can boot up the MB without a button. I'm expecting shorting to work. Saw a couple videos where it was done. Am I expecting wrongly?

Could my power supply have gone bad?

...

Could my power supply have gone bad?
I would suggest:
  • Turn off the PSU for 15-20 seconds.
  • Check the connection of all power cables attached to the PSU and motherboard and GPU. Make sure all cables are fully seated.
  • Also check that all PCIe cards (GPU, WiFi/BT, etc.) are fully seated.
  • Check that memory modules are fully seated.
  • Power on the PSU.
  • Power on the motherboard.
  • Does it work?
  • If not, try CMOS Reset.

Did this, same situation.

  • Also check that all PCIe cards (GPU, WiFi/BT, etc.) are fully seated.
Checked the cables, the desktop was not moved, so little chance something got unseated.
  • Check that memory modules are fully seated.
Resat both modules, also tested with each one individually
  • Power on the PSU.
Powering the PSU lights up the Designare, but not the bottom right leds.
  • Power on the motherboard.
It doesn't power on, neither CPU fan nor hard disks boot up.
  • Does it work?
  • If not, try CMOS Reset.
CMOS reset also doesn't seem to do anything. It's as if something's preventing it from booting.

Are you using a screwdriver to short the power pins in order to boot the motherboard? If so, please take a look at the 4 small red LEDs on the extreme bottom right corner of motherboard. They are labeled:
  • VGA | CPU
  • BOOT | DRAM
Which of these LEDs turns on?

On a successful boot, all 4 should slowly turn off. BOOT will be the last one to turn off -- it will turn off after we choose an O/S from OpenCore Picker.

I'm using a scewdriver indeed, test with 2 different ones in case.
None of the LEDs turn on.
As I said the board doesn't seem to initiate a boot at all, even when shorting the power pins. It does turn on some other LEDs. Should some be turning on even before a boot of the computer?

Okay, this is not good... :(

Now it's a matter of isolating components to see which one (hopefully only one) is bad.
  • If you have another PSU, we should try that first.
  • But if you don't, then we can try something like this:
    • Flip PSU to OFF
    • Remove GPU
    • Remove WiFi/BT card
    • Remove memory DIMMs
    • Flip PSU to ON
  • Try to boot. Which of the 4 LEDs light up, if any?
  • If nothing lights up, then:
    • Flip PSU to OFF
    • Remove CPU (yes, remove CPU)
    • Flip PSU to ON
  • Try to boot. Which of the 4 LEDs light up, if any?
P.S. Statistically speaking, the PSU is most likely to have gone bad, particularly if you are not using a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

Yeah, was also feeling like it's NOT good T_T. I really wonder what could've happened, as I live in a new building and the electricity has never been an issue.

I'll try asking my neighbour's for another PSU, as I don't have any other to test.
I can't undergo the dismantling of my build today, but will do so tomorrow and post my findings here.
