X299 Big Sur Support

@CaseySJ looks like NVM33 worked! And USB ports do show up in ioreg on a BIOS that was released pre-Resizable Bar. I will try the latest ASUS BIOS. I have emailed them the issue with this board I am using and across all ASUS boards, hopefully they can fix it.

One issue so far, even though XHC3 shows up, I plug in a USB C HDD and it seems like there isnt enough power to power it from the TB3 addon card (I do have the dual 3 pin power connected directly to the PSU)

Also tried a USBC flash drive which requires less power, and it didn't work either. Neither of them mount.

I am about to try a TB3 device today and will report back along with the latest BIOS.

Not having enough power in TB3 port is not a good sign in general, I may need to connect TB3 HDDs to this.
USB-C flash disk should have worked. Please try this:
  • Connect the USB-C flash disk first, then boot macOS
  • Does it appear and work?

Hey there, few things I just tried.

Devices on hand:
LaCIE USB-C HDD
LaCIE USB-C SSD
SanDisk USB 3.0 Flash disk (with a USB to USBC adapter)
CalDigit TB3 Mini Dock

After some testing it seems that Hot Plug is not working and TB3 isn't working although it's showing up.

A) Shutting down and Connecting BOTH USB-C HDD and SSD, turning on computer and it shows up. Ejecting and replugging doesn't work. If I eject one of them, and replug, the other one gets disconnected as well.

B) Plugging only one USB-C HDD/SSD it works on cold boot (so no hot plug).

C) Sandisk USB3>USBC adapter version of a USB flash disk does not work at all, although it seems to be getting power. This same setup works on the front USB-C panel without an issue.

D) CalDigit TB3 Mini Dock does not work at all. It says No device connected.

EDIT: Tested TB3 CalDigit Dock and it doesn't seem to show up there either?

Also attaching the SSDTs that are being used (Note am not using DTPG.aml since it's in the MCHC .aml)

My flashed TB3 seemed to work - the SSDT differs slightly from the one you uploaded. maybe worth giving it a try to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for that. Still a no go.

I am just going to give up on TB3 I never use it anyway. Can't wait to drop the Hackintosh and get a M2 or M3 Mac Pro :)

Hi, I used the Base-EFI config, but the BIOS Clock changes every time it's restarted, it is always 8 hours later than system clock.

I removed my Titan Ridge 2. Mainly because not all of the features worked, specifically Ethernet ..but also because I also have no need of an Tb expansion port. Nice project though.

Been pretty quiet around here but new OpenCore release.

Attached a new BASE-EFI.

Bootloader / Kexts:
  • Lilu 1.5.5
  • WhateverGreen 1.5.2
  • AppleALC 1.6.3
  • VirtualSMC 1.2.6
  • SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext
    • Added but disabled by default
  • SmallTreeIntel82576.kext
    • Added but disabled by default
config.plist Changes:
  • SSDT - Combined all required SSDTs into SSDT-BASE.aml
  • ACPI-Quirks-ResetLogoStatus to False
  • Kernel-Quirks-DisableLinkedJettison to True
  • Misc-Boot-PollAppleHotKeys to True
  • Misc-Security-AllowToogleSip to True
  • Misc-Security-SecureBootModel to Disabled
    • OpenCore 0.7.2 now defaults to x86legacy which only loads on macOS Big Sur and up.
    • Refer to the SecureBootModel section for more detail on proper configuration.
  • UEFI-APFS-MinDate and UEFI-APFS-MinVersion to -1 for APFS support on lower macOS versions.
    • Refer to OcApfsLib to adjust these to proper value.
We can apply these changes on EFI USB install for Gigabyte X299 Designare?

I can't start install Big Sur 11.5.01 + OC 0.7.2

I can see UEFI USB installer in Bios but install don't start.

I think cause is CMS support is enlable. But if i disable it, PC freeze on boot screen, I can't enter Bios any more, I need make a clear CMOS.
