Soooooo, is this the last chance to make the jump from the Mac Pro 5,1 to a hackintosh then?

We don't know how long support is going to last for Intel based Macs but it does look like Apple will refresh the 7,1 Mac Pro sometime within the next year. That is rumored to have an ice lake Xeon. So it should be a good number of years that newer Intel Macs will have support in macOS. Right now I'd go with a Z490 motherboard paired with a 10th gen CPU, either i7 or i9. That will be your best option for longer term support to be able to do the same things you could do with a Mac Pro. You will need an AMD graphics card as Apple will soon drop all Nvidia support in macOS.

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I thought as well. I just bought a 580 because I had a 1080 and it was such a hassle to do the upgrade to Mojave. Currently I have doubts that it would be much more work to make a hackintosh work for my uses instead of keeping this machine alive. I love the Mac Pro 5,1 and how it performed all these years but It will become much more painful over the years.
