Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

Currently have a MacBook Pro 2011 and trying to use Target Disk mode on it (Thunderbolt port (up to 10 Gbps) while connecting a Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter and Apple Thunderbolt Cable (2.0 m). So far, nothing is detecting on this build even though the Thunderbolt 3 10G Ethernet Adapter is working fine. Any ideas?

No... I don't know why it's not working...

But you probably don't need the Thunderbolt 2 adaptor.

Are you using a Titan Ridge AIC? The USB-C connection on the back of the motherboard isn't Thunderbolt.

Hi @pastrychef ,

I just have one problem now. Whenever I put it into sleep mode, it often wakes immediately and I have to try a couple of times to get it to sleep. But then it wakes up numerous times every day seemingly for no reason.

I've disabled all of the following: wake on LAN in BIOS, Wake for Network Access in system prefs, "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" in Bluetooth. I've tried disconnecting all USB devices with no change. The only 'USB' device I didn't disconnect was the Bluetooth from my "Original Apple iMac Broadcom BCM94360CD 802.11ac Bluetooth 4.0 WiFi Card" that I use with a PCIE adapter.

I ran the following command: log show --style syslog | fgrep "Wake reason" after leaving it on overnight and got this result:

I put sleep at around 2 hours in system prefs, otherwise it's been waking up every 10 minutes or so. Any insights?

Wake on LAN and Allow Bluetooth Devices To Wake This Computer should not be problems. I have both enabled.

Do you have an Intel CNVi Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card installed?
What kind of keyboard, mouse, or HID devices do you have connected over USB?

thanks again to pastrychef who does an incredible job keeping my rig up and running!

not very important, but maybe interesting, this is my logon screen after reboot - icons are moved to the left...
after logout, erything is fine again!

Anybody seen this before?

It might be a result of the non-standard screen resolution... I don't know how to fix this.

Yes I am using the GIGABYTE GC-Titan Ridge 2.0 (Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 PCIe Card Component). It was my understanding that the thunderbolt functions since the ethernet add on adapter recommended by Pastrychef worked. Not sure what else can be done to get it to work for target disk mode specifically. I can try purchasing a Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter and a Firewire 800 cable to see if that changes anything... Out of ideas at this point. Was really hoping to have a cool laptop mount and data access option using this method of target disk.

You can always just use Ethernet or Wi-Fi and enable File Sharing in System Preferences > Sharing.

I have the Titan Ridge card, and I have used the target disk mode. I did flash my Titan Ridge card though with the firmware from the Z390 Designaire thread. This was required to get my Apple Thunderbolt Display to work. It may also be what allowed target disk mode to work, but I cannot say for sure.

Can anyone tell me what the impact is if I leave Intel Platform Trust Technology active on BIOS for macOS?
Because if you leave Windows 11 active, it recognizes that it has TPM 2.0 active.
