Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

...

Did you get the Networking going with smalltreeintel82576.kext?
The kext is loaded and both Ethernet ports appear in System Information, but I have yet to connect a physical Ethernet cable. Because this system is sitting in a remote part of the house, I'll need to either find a long cable or move the unit closer to an Ethernet outlet.

yes the add in card version 2 fw 50..thanks maybe we can get up and running!

The tb audio works very well in windows, no glitches. Should be a great mobo for pro audio users. i like to keep it if possible
Please try the attached EFI folder:
  • Rename or backup your existing EFI folder first, of course.
  • Then download and rename the attached folder to EFI.
  • Reboot.
  • Then let's check Ethernet and Thunderbolt as follows:
    • Post screenshot of System Information --> Ethernet
    • Post screenshot of IORegistryExplorer --> but scroll the list until you see PCI0 --> BXBR --> BYUP --> BYD1 as follows:

OMG! WE’RE WORKING!! You are a god sent man! Niocooe. OK, so all I have to do is power cycle my RME card. Network Card works, and I’m not crashing now. I can update the RME firmware to see if that power cycle helps at this point. Sleep is working, and I’ll try some of the USB ports but they seem fine with ilok and other stuff.

Here are some photos. I'm gonna try and do some edrum samples right now.

Glad to hear it! Let's wait a little bit to ensure the system is reliable/workable even after a power cycle.
  • Ethernet port is being driven by the correct driver (2.5Gbps)

  • Also good to disable Wake for Network Access if it's not already disabled. This can interfere with Sleep.

Ugh! I updated the firmware, and now I can not get the RME card back up. I tired both TB adapters. This is like what almost exactly happened with the Vision D-P. I’m not sure if its a Big Sur, and how it works with this RME card. I think the RME firmware is messing it up from working right. I think the best thing I should do is install Catalina. The TB port is defiantly active.
This is seriously a bug.
The system seems stable outside of that. I need a break, yet again.

@CaseySJ

Perhaps to save you some time, I can confirm that both Ethernet ports work for me using your supplied EFI folder.

As if it's any surprise... :) ASRock X570 Taichi.

I downgraded my firmware, and its working again. I'll try and see if the RME can help. This is seriously a nightmare bug.

Ok so i can repro. I have to boot into windows, then into mac and use this certain firmware from rme and i can get it back up by just power cycling on the rme unit

@CaseySJ Would this mean its a tb issue motherboard or rme issue? Also can u mabey make the efi folder able to boot monterey so i can test the thunderbolt issue on the new mobo?

I just wanted to say thank you for your amazing tutorial. I have just purchased a Gigabyte B550 Vision D motherboard along with some other pieces, and I'm going to have a go with a similar build.
