Hi, I have a HP EliteBook 9470m i7 laptop with OSX Catalina 10.15.7 with HD4000 at 1366x768 , everything works correctly except card reader and fingerprint reader. The problem I have is that when installing some applications the system loses the graphic acceleration at the next boot and the only way I have to solve it is reinstalling a system update. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it without reinstalling the system? Thanks and apologies for my English, it is not my native language.

It was enough to apply:
sudo chown -v -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions
sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions
sudo chmod -v -R 755 /Library/Extensions
sudo chown -v -R root:wheel /Library/Extensions
sudo touch /Library/Extensions
sudo kextcache -i /

Reboot and running
Thank you all for your answers

finger print reader is not supported

some card readers are also not supported but if you have a realtek card carder, then having a search for:
Sinetek's Driver for Realtek "RTSX" SDHC Card Readers may work if yours is compatible

Thanks for your answer. Ok, that's clear, I don't care about the card readers, where the problem is in the graphic acceleration as the title of the post says. What causes the loss of acceleration when installing certain applications? And why when installing an update (even if it is already installed) the graphic acceleration is restored? These are the questions to which I can't find a solution after months and that's why I decided to come here to look for help.

not sure about your video issue, maybe film it so we can see a video of the issue?

The symptoms are that artifacts appear on the screen, applications do not draw well, Launchpad is very slow, applications that use multiple overlapping screens do not work properly, there is no graphic acceleration. I wonder if installing an application can corrupt some part of the system, permissions, nvram, etc. or something that will cause the graphics to be lost? I don't have it here now, later when I get home I'll try to take a video capture. Thanks again.
