[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

One of my two displays takes 10 seconds longer to come on than first display. But it always comes on.

In super rare cases I get issue with same display losing picture randomly unless i unplug and replug it. That display had same issue with my 1080ti too on 10.13.6 that it does on 6900xt on 11.4. probably multiple factors in that. 120hz display port display, or some other reason. maybe just brand is fickle with macOS, who knows. A quirk i'm used to though and not one that was new to navi2 for me at least

Do you have a problem with the display off and on during booting process?
Yes, same issue as most people during boot it seems, but the systems boots fine and works flawlessly after. I'm sure someone will soon find a way to fix the display off issue during boot.

I can confirm it's still happening on public beta 3 as well.

Is it possible to get temperature monitoring with 6900xt?

Success indeed! Thanks to this thread.

Flawless update from a Vega 64 to an MSI RX 6800XT trio, Big Sur 11.4. OC 0.7.0, iMac20,2.
Just added agdpmod=pikera in the boot-args. More than doubled my Geekbench Metal score, from 60750 with the Vega 64 to 150950 with the 6800's. Really? Hard to believe such a big jump between 2 recent cards.
I'll test it hard in the coming days.
If you compare the 5700xt to the 2080Ti and then look at the 6800XT, it’s as if AMD made an exponential jump in performance in just one generation.

The 2080Ti used to tower over AMD’s offerings, and in one generation, the 2080Ti is now getting curb stomped. Kudos to AMD for innovating.

The only issue I have with this generation is high pricing and limited availability. But the technology is solid.

Hmmm, are you using fake smc or virtual smc?
I wonder if it is even working on a real Mac?
I'm using latest release of virtual smc.

Temps not possible in virtualsmc right now but fakesmc added sensor support. the problem is they both use completely different approaches, fakesmc has too many down sides with modern usage though to use just for amd sensors, if it can even boot big sur at all.

I'm hoping eventually someone smart finds a way to make AMD sensors work with virtualSMC though. It's long overdo.

It boots Big Sur... or at least it used to.

In the early days of the Big Sur beta last summer when Apple's updates broke VirtualSMC, FakeSMC pulled thru until the OC developers updated VirtualSMC. That being said, I don't see any reason to use FakeSMC.
