Yeah Radeon VII is the best card on the market for miners because of the HBM2 memory. Sell it when you can.
Yeah, but how much better is the 6900 OVER the VII in percentage performance? Since, it's worth selling and then getting the 6900XT? That's what I'd like to know...

He's much better!
The Radeon Vii was very inferior even though it was AMD's flagship card
This generation of video cards is a true competitor of nvdia and has the power!

In my Radeon VII I would get 60,000 maybe 70,000 points (geekbench)
With AMD BOOST KEXT (unstable!) I got 100,000 points

At 6900 xt I get 165,000 points (without any extra kext)

So the performance is there!

If you're talking about mining, Radeon VII is about 30% better than the 6900XT.

If you're talking about general GPU performance, actual real world stuff like productivity in apps that use the GPU or gaming, than the 6900XT (Flagship model) is an incredible piece of hardware. I would say about 30-50% in performance boost.

You can do full 4k 60fps+ gaming with the 6900XT with every setting maxed out on AAA games.

Like mentioned, it's basically a 3090FE (they trade blows and sometimes the 6900XT is faster in raster) without DLSS and Ray Tracing. AMD has ray tracing which is decent and DLSS replacement, but it's not as good as NVIDIA. But in general it's an incredible card and I'm very happy with the performance.

Is the 6900XT worth it over the 6800XT? Probably not. I just went with it because I came out even on selling the Radeon VII so why not. And anyway I always get the top end GPU, so it's worth it to me.

If you can find these cards for retail price, I highly recommend it.

Yo mean the drop Thursday on AMD website? in theory the cards are there in Thursdays but, you cannot actually buy 'em since servers are overloaded by bots and they usually crash! Any hints at how to actually buy a 6800 XT there for 650 €? Selling my 5700 Xt fo 8/900 on eBay would make the swap a pretty good one!

I think you have to use a bot yourself to beat the system or set alerts, but I personally have not tried it. I paid a scalper, felt dirty doing it, but had no other choice.

ASRock Fatal1ty K6 Gaming P2.00, i9940x, OC 0.6.9
Trying to boot 11.4. I think install went ok, I can boot from the BS Recovery.dmg but not Big Sur install itself seems to slow to molasses on tx_flush.
I recently updated from OC 0.5.7, 0.6.9 boots fine into 10.14.6. For Big Sur I manually built SSDT-RTC0-RANGE-HEDT added them to existing SSDT HPET, EC etc.
OC slows right down toward the end and I left it overnight and the tx_flush just keeps going with new lines all night. Don't really know what I'm doing, just learning/following Dortania guide and reading here but building a few of the SSDT manually through obtaining my own DSDT slowly learning.

It is definitely worth flashing a different firmware, such as:
  • Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Xtreme (NVM 33)
  • Gigabyte Z390 Designare (NVM 33)
  • DSM2 version (TitanRidgeMacOSFirmware.bin)
All of these are available from the Thunderbolt Repository. NOTE: You may lose the ability to connect USB-C devices when using the DSM2 version and maybe one of the other two as well. But Thunderbolt devices should work.

Hey there, so I have the GB Titan Ridge v1 card and it seems that the DSM2 version firmware is the only one that doesn't freeze the system. I tried the other 2 you mentioned and they freeze the system while using it.

Is it possible to get help with a proper TBOLT3 aml? It is in Slot 3 now with the Pin jump mod and no TB connector.

Attaching IOREG. thank you!

Okay great to know this, but with my existing system setup running MacOS v11.4 on my Asus X299 Prime-DELUXE mobo, i9-7980XE CPU and 64GB of G.Skill RAM, can I just take out the Radeon VII's and install the 6900 XT and it'll just work? Or will I have to jump through hoops to make it work? If it does need some different files to make it work, Is there someone who might have the EFI that is using the same mobo that I'm using that could possibly post it here? Thanks for the info.

It's just plug and play, I would sell the Radeon VII's you have and enjoy the profits + upgrade lol

If you are using MacPro7,1, upgrade to 11.4, then remove WEG completely and pop in the 6900XT.

BTW the USB-C on the 6900XT is disabled, it's only for DisplayPort video out and no USB-C devices are working. Seems like Apple has disabled it in the drivers for now, oh well no big deal.
