My sys def is late 2015. Looks like I'll be okay, but also looks like my Skylake processor is nearing the end of the road!

Surprised at the 2013 Mac Pro support.

Looks like this may be the last Intel supported macOS.

For me, I think its time to move to Windows and Linux.
Well...You can always stay in Big Sur for some years. We are obsessed to have the latest release and we can enjoy the present...;)

I doubt it. You think that they will cut off a block of over 5 years worth of mac hardware with one new macOS release? There are a lot more intel macs in the world than there were PowerPC macs, and during the last processor transition, the macOS release cycle was more like once every 2 years, versus once a year like nowadays.

I think the last intel supported Mac-os will be released the year right after they cease to build intel based macs. I think that intel based production will probably stop either late 2022, or early 2023. Clearly, from my POV, the Mac Pro will be the last machine to be replaced as they need to build a processor that can replace the xeon in that machine, probably something like an M3 or M3X processor, 30-40+ cores, seriously powerful GPU, also capable of handling up to 1TB Ram, and possibly a few PCIe cards as well.

After that, and with any luck, there might be one more new OS that supports intel Macs and that will be it, my guess is that beyond 2023 no new Mac-os will have intel support.

Apple still sells intel based macs...last year they released new 27” imac, so it would be pretty bad PR if they cut of support for your new machine after just 3 years. My guess is more like 2028 or 2029 for the last intel machines and that is if they stop selling them right now. As we have seen from Monterey where 2014 mac mini is still supported, apple bases it more on when they stopped selling the machine than on hardware capabilities. 2014 mac mini was sold until 2018 and is still supported in 2021.

Snow Leopard killed off PowerPC, if a good reference point, it was a 2-2.5 year cycle in that particular endeavor.

They will still release .dot updates for Monterey for Intel processors, but I think Monterey is the last one to support Intel.

There were waaay less powerpc macs out there than intel macs now. No way is Monterey the last intel mac os, especially when apple is still selling intel macs and there is rumored mac pro intel refresh with new xeon processors.
