Hi i have the same mobo ASUS WS SAGE 10G.
i am trying to install bigsur on this mobo but for some reason its getting stuck at 12 min remaining on first stage install. the whole install freezes basically cant even move mouse.
could it be nvram ?
any ideas what could be the issue ?

Thanks ! : )

Last time I did a clean install of Big Sur, I had a frozen mouse too but it eventually finished installing. You can refer to my github for recommended BIOS settings and my BASE-EFI that should work. I also have a Sage/10G EFI too but it’s more customized to the specific devices I have.

Good luck!

hello i upgraded the last OSX uSB map broken for 10G designare any one have the EFI above open core 0.63?

You can check this thread since there are a few users with that board

good days,

i am confuse now. motherboard Asus X299 Deluxe II, and the newest BIOS is 3301.
previous BIOS 0802 so far so good on macos.
but i upgraded BIOS to 3301 last night and i no longer can boot into macOS via Opencore....

bios 0802:
i have one issue, if i enable CSM in bios and boot into macos, all USB port dead.
any solution for such issue except to disable CSM?

I'm having the same issue, I think, but the opposite.

The 6900 XT does not allow the machine to get past the BIOS splash screen if CSM is disabled.

USB ports not working at all. They show in IOReg, but no power.

@applemacosxGOD did you ever figure this out?

I'm on a Designare EX x299, BIOS F6

Edit: I figured it out. The solution was to disable ProtectUefiServices under Booter > Quirks.

CSM Support is still enabled with the following sub-categories:
– LAN PXE Boot Option ROM: Disabled
– Storage Boot Option Control: Do not launch
– Other PCI devices: Do not launch

X299 trouble

Hello there, I've just tried to make a clean install, but after dozens of tries with Dortania's guide and this thread, I cannot reach the Big Sur installation GUI.

It seems that everything loads well, but errors will appear with:

“disks3s3 device is write locked". The USB stick is a 16Gb USB 2, on a USB 2 port (I've tried them all and 3 different sticks).

In the end there’s a failed to bootstrap path error on many items :

I try to run on an ASUS X299 DELUXE and the Bios version is 3301.
I only have one ssd plugged and nothing bu the installation stick and the keyboard.

If someone skilled enough could tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd be thrilled.

Here is my EFI from the same motherboard and CPU.
This is on OC 0.6.6 so you'll probably want to update it.
As always, you will need to regenerate a new serial and all of that.

Also, I'm fairly certain you can't use a 10 series NVidia cards past High Sierra? Unless I'm missing something...

Thanks Egroys, I'm trying this now, we'll see…
(About the graphic card, it's a 6800xt, my signature needs an update!)

[EDIT]
Unfortunately, it didn’t work, I get stuck on 3 « AppleKeyStore » error:

What is your BIOS version and what guide did you follow to configure it, Dortania’s or KGP’s ?

Thanks,
J

Originally KGP and then updated to OC with Dortania and the help of this community.
I am on BIOS 3301. Rock solid over here.

Maybe has something to do with the 6800?
Try to disable my Vega 56 SSDT?

Hi Egroys, I've tried and retried, nothings different. I'll let this down for now and stick with windows until I get an rx580 or Navi card. Thanks for your help!

Have you tried making a 11.4 installer (official release isnt out yet but RC is)? or installing big sur on a real mac then copying it over?

My Base-EFI and BIOS settings should get you started
