I like the hub - it pretty much fits the functional design that I think is right for the iMac, with the M1 in the base and a cable running through the monitor arm (and no chin!)
Due to the past comments of Michael Dell about what course Apple should take in the late 1990s, we'll probably never see an iMac that looks anything like this or any other Dell product. All the long time Apple employees like Tim Cook and others remember how PO'd Steve Jobs got back then.

Looks kinda like a laptop with the stand glued down. Lots of ports which is good. Just one question though?

Just get an M1 Mac mini and you can use whatever monitor/stand you like. They can be specced out pretty much identically.
Yes I see that. The whole M1 range is pretty much the same machine with differences only for heat management. Im happy with the lowest specced M1 Air which I dock with a 4k monitor and very happy with it both as desktop and laptop. Seems strange to say that the laptop is as powerful as the desktop but that's true for all of my usage, others have gone for the Pro or modded their Airs to make the cooling issues all but disappear (if you dont have it on your lap that is) but my usage has never stressed it and updates are probably the time when it works hardest.

Impressed with the M1 technical performance but not so impressed with Apple's designs because I think they have churned out things that look like their old products rather than rethink how they might be now the pcb is the same size as a phone.

EDIT "past comments of Michael Dell" ? That he'd close Apple? not sure what's meant if you mean they wont make it look like a dell - yes for sure. I was pointing to the way the hub was laid out rather than what it looked like - pic here - https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...rs-starting-on-april-30th.312177/post-2243966

Yes, he said when asked if he were CEO at Apple, what he would do.

October 6, 1997: Michael Dell makes an infamously bleak appraisal of Apple’s fortunes. Asked what he would do with the struggling company, the founder of Dell Inc. says he would “shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders.”

Steve Jobs’ response to Dell’s comment

For this reason, Dell’s comment struck a nerve with Jobs, who took time out of his next Apple keynote to respond to Dell’s “rude” comment. “We’re coming after you, buddy!” Jobs said.

He ended up doing that himself to Dell and took it private before going public again.

Look at what dbrand already has for sale to stick on a new M1 iMac.

Way too expensive but it is an option for those that prefer black bezels.
Maybe $29.95 would be a good price but 50 USD for stick on vinyl ???

Apple customers are used to paying top dollar for every cable, dongle
and accessory that goes with a Mac anyway. Why not gouge them on
a vinyl skin too ?

If you watch or create content, then black is the way to go imo.

It does seem to work for the blue and silver models but I'd hesitate to stick them on any of the others. As a side benefit the vinyl will protect the edges from any nicks or chips in the glass that may happen over many years of iMac ownership.

For the low price of $499.95 you can make your new iMac completely disappear in a dark room. You won't even know where the power button is to turn it on. Seriously ?? :thumbdown At least the iMac stand is included and doesn't cost $999.

I bet some wealthy tech youtubers will actually do this. Maybe MKBHD ? He loves Matte Black everything. Dbrand will probably send the vinyl stick ons for free advertising.

Here's a logic board for the 2012 Macbook Air. Looks an awful lot like the new M1 logic board in the iMac 24". I'm sure that the MBA logic boards were the inspiration for the new iMacs. Everything soldered to the board.
