does anyone have this problem?

load up glview can help
thx

Let me take back this post. My issue solved by AMT set to enable in BIOS setting.

Have the same issue.
Used Big Sur installer 11.0, HD4000 works. Even after updating to latest 11.2.3
Fresh install using 11.2.3 installer, HD4000 driver does not load.

did you load up glview to check? check for 1) apple software render only 2) metal says x,x, v1_4?

i have first beta of big sur back in september and it didnt work. not sure if i can download v11 anymore to test what you are saying since apple no longer lets you download old versions.

My test is if the dock is solid then driver didn’t load, supposed to be translucent. And looking at System report - Extensions - AppleIntelHD4000Graphics driver loaded or not.
Also System report - Graphics/Displays, when driver doesn’t load there’s no entry for Metal status.

download glview from the app store to see it. and then also open apple maps to see if its black screen

what build of big sur are you saying the metal works? thx

Attaching photos as requested.
It’s an HP Elite 8300 USDT i7 3770s.

can you do a glview screenshot also? its on the mac app store

i also is hp btx mb, i will write the model after

they said b4 to turn on amt in the cmos settings. maybe you can compare them? (but dont touch the working one!)

maybe its the intel me, dsdt?, video ram settings etc

what is your smbios settings and what is the id of the framebuffer its using? can you attach an ioreg log?

i did look at the logs and find that gpuwrangler is saying intelaccelerator is not loading when metal does not work. and the framebuffers becomes -1 . i need to somehow compare what decides the intelaccelerator to load or quit... i am not sure what else i can do yet

will post the logs here soon

What’s weird is I tried installing a new Big Sur install on an identical computer but couldn’t get the metal to work.
Open up the side panel and look at the white sticker on the underside. If you see the number 3 and ME Disabled or 6 & ME Lockout the Intel Mgt. Engine has been factory disabled. These will not work well if you want to use HD4000 graphics. It will cause problems with graphics acceleration that are not fixable without some very complicated BIOS hacks. You'll also have system freezes due to no IMEI device being present.

Tip about the AMT in BIOS did the trick! Thanks.
Here are the GLView screenshots.
