Success @Middleman @Stork

Many thanks to Stork for all his help over the years and to Middleman recently.

As I transition from Mojave to Big Sur I’ll try to drop through more frequently to help others on this platform.

Goodbye Clover ... no love loss there.
Hello Westsurf,

I haver a hackintosh with the same configuration with Mojave and Clover.

How are the performance with BigSur? It Works well?

Thanks

Hello friends,

I have my Studio A Hackintosh - Z77X UP5Th - i7 3700k running at full speed, very light and fast on Big Sur 11.2.3, using OC 0.6.7

Everything working - Video (RX 580) - Sleep / Wake - Wifi - USBs - without any obstacles.

The only thing I was unable to install was my external audio card - a PreSonus FireStudio 2626, which was discontinued a long time ago.

I want to see if anyone can enable it. The problem is that Big Sur doesn't let you write on the system, just read. I believe that it would be possible to write on the SSD.

I recommend the update to everyone.

Greetings,

With great joy I inform you that I managed to make our good old PreSonus FireStudio 2626 work on macOS Big Sur 11.2.3.

I did a clean installation and, using Migration Assistence, I imported my settings and programs, including FireControl (installed on Mojave).

I went to the system security options and enabled PreSonus options that appeared there.

To my surprise, the blue light on the sign came on.

Long live our partner.

A hug from Brazil
Very Happy

Hello friends,

I'm running Ivy Bridge on macOS Big Sur, very happy with the result.

I have 3 screens connected to the RX580. One is in magenta. The problem is only with the 0x4 (DVI) output.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem using OC?

Sorry if is not here the right help section.
Thank you for all your help. A hug

Yes so far its seems as fast. I’m still using a spare drive and Big Sur is in “test mode” due to the increased issues of Ivy Bridge not being supported by Big Sur. SoI. Testing various SMBIOS etc.

What’s become obvious is it‘s time for me to upgrade ”Silent is Golden” which has served me very well over the years. So as it’s last hurrah I’m going to learn as much about Opencore with a machine I know well before embarking on the next computer.

With a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor, my problem was solved in Big Sur. Not using DVI to HDMI anymore. Now I need to remove de USB Ports and verify my FireStudio 2626 audio interface (not transmit sound output).

I consider mapping USB ports as one of the more important things to do as it saves many heartaches even in older OSX versions.

Hit a wall, first try, update failed (15.2 to 15.2.3) with the comment "platform not supported". Using SMBIOS 15.1 and thinking that's the issue.

Moving on to try other SMBIOS ...

Don't know what happened the first effort. Success from 11.2 to 11.2.3 using OC 0.6.7. Updated all the kexts beforehand. Three reboots and approx 20 minutes.

IMHO if you're still using Clover you should move to Opencore as nothing seems to break during updates.
