[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Does the ATC700 contain a USB connector?
  • Because it supports RGB Fusion, it should be connectable to any RGB Fusion header (3-pin Addressable RGB) on motherboard (Z390 Designare does not have this).
Or does the Gigabyte C300 Glass contain a RGB lighting controller into which the ATC 700 is plugged?
  • If so, is the RGB lighting controller connected via USB to the F_USB header on Designare?
One workaround is to connect the RGB lighting controller to an External USB port on the rear IO panel. We can use a 9 pin USB to USB 2.0 cable to do this. Then if you run IORegistryExplorer and export the IOReg file (File --> Save As...), we can help you disable that external USB port in macOS. This allows Windows to control RGB effects, but hides the device from macOS.
Hello, unfortunately my job didn’t allow the computer to attention. now I have the opportunity to attention to the computer. I did some checks

Interesting. In my X570 Taichi AMD Ryzentosh, I have a 1-to-4 USB splitter based on the same Genesys Logic GL850G (USB 2.0 hub controller) and sleep also fails when that splitter is connected and populated. It seems macOS now has a problem with this chip.

I have just ordered a NZXT USB 2.0 internal hub. Will see if it makes any difference.

Did you set the header it is attached to to "255". "FF", "Internal" ?

It's a hub and only the port it is attached to can be controlled. (Mind you the GL850G does have its very own ARM/RISC processor inside so could be BOSS if it wanted! :D ).

Yes it's set to Type 255 and used to exhibit no sleep problems in earlier incarnations of macOS. Apple modified the USB 2.0 driver last year (if memory serves) as a result of problems plaguing real Macs. Those modifications certainly benefitted my Gigabyte B550 Vision D in which sleep/wake finally works flawlessly with the on-board USB 2.0 hub.

Fair enough

OT, sorry... I do think the lack of Intel controllers on a Ryzentosh confuses macOS. Logically, why wouldn't it? AMD may be register equivalent with Intel but there's never been a Mac with one so.

Out of interest do you know what the USB chipset is? I discovered that the new M1 Apple machines use that old favourite Fresco Logic to provide the USB3 stack.

I have the same USB splitter on my primary Z390 Designare with Intel i7-9700K. Latest macOS fails to enter sleep. I've been using that system quite sparingly (when you have 5 Hackintoshes, that's gonna happen :)) and hence never worried about it. But now I'm curious...

A splitter with the GL850G is used in two of my systems:
  • B550 Vision D (AMD Ryzen)
  • Z390 Designare (Intel)
Both of them -- and only these two -- are experiencing sleep problems.

Okay. Looking at the specs of the Z390 Designare, all USB ports are Intel. I take it your GL850G is attached to an internal header which is USB2, not the USB3.1 one. Therefore that USB port is the root node and the one macOS interacts with. Sleep can be affected by polling or power draw. Polling is successfully defeated by the UsbConnector type, but as I'm guessing the GL850G is bus powered, perhaps (and I don't have one to test here) the chip itself has fluctuating power demands. If it does all it does on USB2 fuel, peaks and troughs are going to be more noticeable and have an effect.

As you say, I'm curious too ...

Yeah, in Windows 10, you can disable the display from the Display settings without having to unplug it, whereas macOS doesn't have that feature so it auto-disconnects when a monitor is turned off.

I saw quite a bit of people were asking the same question elsewhere. It's something I'd like to possible fix. Could you guide me on what I'd need to understand to solve it? Or do you think it's a more complex issue?
@CaseySJ
This issue is fixed after moving to OC 0.6.6 from Clover.
Was neat to magically see it fixed

I think they are all on this chip. I will buy some other chips and build a USB hub, test and let you know.
