Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Ugh thanks! After checking I guess that doesn't work as it would disable the NZXT fans? I guess I will just wait for rocket lake and change the chiller and CPU then. Thanks for your help! System works great!!!
NZXT fans should continue to spin because macOS does not control them. But with HS11 disabled, Bluetooth won’t work if you’re using a Broadcom WiFi/BT card.

I've tried out the new BIOS for the Vision D (20b) and it did not work well for me. Sleep is working perfectly for me with the 20a BIOS, but with 20b it just doesn't. The computer always wakes up again, immediately.
Thanks for the observation. I’m still on F5! Recent BIOS updates have been somewhat problematic.

Hi:
Last days my system hangs when awake from sleep.
I'm on the last 11.2.1.

I experienced something similar when swapping video cards several months ago. In my case the system either refused to POST or refused to output video. It seemed to me that once a GPU has been installed, this motherboard does not react well if that GPU is replaced. I recall having to re-flash the BIOS with no AMD GPU installed and monitor connected to iGPU, then install the new AMD GPU. This may not work for every situation, but it’s worth a try.
Really, reflash the BIOS? That's pretty extreme! :)

@CaseySJ would you mind pointing out where/how to find/modify the SSDT to allow me to have 2 video cards and disabled the 6800 XT one when in macOS?

I know that you pointed it out and even offer to check my SSDT, but this thread is so big now that I can't find your answer to one of my posts. Thanks

  • Does this happen immediately after waking from sleep? Or a few seconds after waking up?
  • Does this happen if you let the computer sit idle for 5-6 minutes?
  • Please run “Activity Monitor” and sort the list by “% CPU”. Keep this window on top of all other windows. Then put computer to sleep and wake it up after 1 minute. If the Activity Monitor window appears, take a photo of it, then resize photo to 1280 or 1500 pixels (to reduce file size), remove EXIF location information, and post. Or just tell us which process was at the top of the list in the Activity Monitor window.

Hi @CaseySJ
30 minutes ago I had another watchdog KP doing a Zoom conference and opening tabs in safari (minutes after normal wake from sleep).
This problem may occurs instantly when wake from sleep or in normal use.

Follow-ups:
  • Does the crash occur every time the computer wakes from sleep, or only sometimes?
    • If only sometimes, would you say it happens once every 5 wakes, or once every N wakes?
  • Does the crash occur during normal use if the computer has not been put to sleep since booting?
  • Please run "Activity Monitor" as stated in bullet #3 previously and sort the list by % CPU. When crash occurs, just tell us which process was at the top of the list.

At the bottom of the Z390 Designare build guide there are two SSDTs, one that disables GPU in Slot 1 and the other disables Slot 2.

Flashing the BIOS is pretty safe and routine. Remember this is the motherboard BIOS (not Thunderbolt BIOS). This is done from within BIOS Setup.

-Does'nt occur everytime, only sometimes. I don't know every n wakes for the KP (i will try to take note).
-First, the monitor goes black, tried to wait several minutes and finally I push reset button. When computer restart, appear the info that computer crash and after login, the info about the KP. With a "fresh" restart and no sleep, the KP may occur too.
- I attach the image from activity monitor:
