Hello,

I have as well a Gigabyte GA Z68 X -UD3H-B3. I would like to be able to install SSD Drive on this mother board. At the moment at the start up, the bios mention that it recognizes only SATA and USB drives... Do you know which latest OSX would fit to this motherboard. The Graphic cart is an NVIDIA Geforce 210, and the Ram is 16Go.

Thanks for your support!

Hi there.

Just use a SATA SSD like the Crucial MX500 etc. It connects just like an HDD.

Please check your hardware profile and update the CPU - someone has left you a hint.

The GT210 is a bit old now. A GT710 with GDDR3 memory would be better. Does your CPU have integrated graphics? (See note above).

When we know maybe we can help

Thank you utter disbelief,

the profile has been updated.
The bios is an F12.

The mainboard has an integrated graphic board.

I have in fact a crucial sata 500 Go.

I would like to install on the sata 500 Go ssd an OS X System. I am not a gamer so if this graphic board, the 210 or the integrated one works, that’s ok for me.

Okay, your CPU has an HD4000 iGPU so will run as far as Catalina, I believe. However I would be careful of your choice. Your GT210 might only have GDDR2 memory. Ideally you need at least GDDR3.

If this was my hardware I would probably try with High Sierra first but it depends on what you need for your project.

With the site Search is always your friend. For some great technical info check this post:

You are right, tell me please which graphic board is the most appropriate for this board in order to be able to follow the OS X system evolution.

You need one which is Metal API capable to be compatible with a modern macOS.

I can't tell you which one is best for you, that is your own choice, but be careful. People are buying the latest AMD GPUs hoping Apple will offer support for them. Sadly that may or may not happen so I wouldn't gamble on it.

The cheapest supported GPU that works for most modern macOS versions is the GT710 GDDR3 model.

For more background, here are the two threads you should check:

Hello, I have the possibility to buy an msi GeForce GT 710 with 1Go
Would it fit?

An Intel i7-3770K has a built-in iGPU of HD4000 which is currently supported. Remember that the system will allocate 1.5GB of memory to the HD4000 which is more than the GT710 you have seen. This may be a problem.

HD4000 still has support in Big Sur too. It does require a newer SMBIOS to work though. MP 6,1 or iMac 15,1 are the most common choices. I'm using HD4000 gfx on an Ivy Br. system and it works perfectly with Big Sur.
