Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

Are you using the new Launcher option? Anything other notable worth upgrading? I am still on 0.6.4.

I didn't set the Launcher thing in the EFI on post #1. I will probably do it on my personal EFI.

I think it's mostly bug fixes and refinements. 0.6.4 works even with Big Sur.

OpenCore EFI updated to version 0.6.6

All kexts updated to latest release version.

I suggest testing from a USB flash drive first. Please clear NVRAM on first boot with OpenCore 0.6.6.
Hi, using your 0.6.6 as a template, adapted as needed for my system, I get "Halt on critical error" immediately after BIOS splash screen

I tried your 0.6.6 then with no changes, same "Halt on Critical Error". Thought maybe I had an iffy USB drive, tried alternative, same behaviour and both fine with my previous EFI. Am I missing something basic here you think?

What is the critical error?

That’s the only message I get on screen, nothing else. I tried it with your 0.6.6 efi unmodified (removed the read me file) and thats the message I get.

I have no idea... Is this before or after the boot picker? Did you clear NVRAM?

Copied EFI 0.6.6 from post #1 . Replaced EFI on my USB drive seen as "UEFI:SanDisk, Partition1" in clip below. Cleared NVRAM, Select "UEFI:SanDisk, Partition 1" for boot, immediate "Halting on Critical Error"

Update - I decided it was time to learn how to update OC myself rather than cannibalising yours, appreciate all your efforts but gotta learn right? Took me out of my comfort zone but I used the dortania guide Here and the Sanity Checker and I am up and running with 0.6.6

Your version checks out OK on the Sanity checker but for some reason just will not boot when I try to use it

I have no idea either. It's working good here.

Nice! I'm on 0.6.4. Is worth the update? What's the launcher thing? What does it do?

It's up to you... Honestly, if I didn't know in advance, I would have no idea what version of bootloader macOS booted from.

The launcher thing is the replacement for the bootstrap which kind of protects it from being screwed with by Windows or Linux updates/installs because they sometimes mess with the EFI.
